    We’re looking for an Internal Controls Manager to develop and lead the Internal Control function at Hootsuite. This role will partner with business and key stakeholders to identify areas of risk and deliver valuable recommendations on setting up controls.

    You’ll have the opportunity to influence change and implementations. You are somebody who enjoys working in a dynamic atmosphere, is enthusiastic about technology, and is able to focus on key issues.

    You will work closely with leaders and stakeholders across Hootsuite and subsidiaries and strive to achieve an excellent control environment that enhances and protects organizational value.

    While based in Hootsuite’s Toronto or Vancouver office (post COVID19) or remotely across Canada (in accordance with Hootsuite's local employment entities), you will report to the Controller.

    WHAT YOU’LL DO :

  • Develop an internal control function : perform risk assessments to determine focus, document controls, prepare audit test plans, develop the sampling methodology, report findings, identify gaps, compile recommendations, etc.
  • Develop and execute risk-based operational, financial, and compliance audit programs to
  • address associated risks.

  • Identify financial, operational, and compliance risks and improve the effectiveness of Hootsuite's governance, risk management, and internal control activities.
  • Develop audit reports to document audit scope, plans, findings, and recommendations. Explain the importance of audit findings, draw inferences from findings, and make recommendations for remediation.
  • Conduct testing on the effectiveness of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting / Disclosures to support Bill 198 and / or 52-109 compliance level assessments of compliance.
  • Interact with and educate department owners (both finance and non-finance) on the significance of controls, an effective control environment, and their role.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations concisely to all levels of management both verbally and in writing. Work with the management to develop effective solutions to close gaps and monitor closely the implementation of agreed action plans.
  • Work with External auditors as required.
  • WHAT YOU’LL NEED :

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation. CIA, CFE, CISA will be an added advantage
  • Professional accounting / audit experience including Big 4 experience and working in publicly traded companies
  • 8-10 years of experience
  • Strong working experience and knowledge in Bill 198 and / or 52-109 compliance audits including the IT General & Application Controls
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with executives in a confident manner
  • Ability to collaborate, partner, and form trustful and credible connections with various stakeholders
  • Ability to lead and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented setting while delivering on commitments
  • Ability and readiness to take initiative to address issues and deliver continuous process improvements
