Looking to take the next step in your career? Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) and Electrical (SPEL) Administrator to join the Digital group in Mississauga.

The SPI & SPEL Administrator is the SPI & SPEL product owner for a project and is responsible for overall SPI & SPEL system setup, configuration, and day to day operation.

The SPI & SPEL Administrator is responsible for ensuring that all projects are configured per project standards and requirements and general overview of project SPI & SPEL implementation / execution.

As the successful candidate, you will :

  • Liaise with Engineering / Project Systems Manager for system improvements and modifications
  • Implement and setup SPI & SPEL projects in the offices globally to project standards
  • Coordinate with Lead Discipline Engineers / Designers as required
  • Input into development and implementation of new procedures, guidelines and workflows
  • Handle project specific SPI & SPEL Guidelines and general input to changes into SPI procedures
  • Produce project job notes as need to improve project efficiency and work practices
  • Consolidate / Merge SPI & SPEL databases and trouble shoot issues.
  • Complete general day-to-day oversight and management of project SPI & SPEL usage
  • Oversight of project SPI & SPEL Service Requests in process
  • Manage and ensure compliance with database backup strategies
  • Troubleshoot problems as they occur, including weekends, as the need arises
  • Manage and maintenance of service pack updates
  • Oversight of project SPI & SPEL procedures - fit for purpose
  • Interface with all additional related software such as Smart 3D, SmartPlant P&ID, SmartPlant Foundation (SPF) and SmartPlant Materials (SPM)
  • Provide user-support to project resources
  • Manage and maintain application backups
  • Find opportunities to reduce overall costs and improve end user performance
  • User education and training for new hires and end users to become proficient with Instrumentation and Electrical.
  • You bring to the role :

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with SPI & SPEL software and configuration
  • The ability to install SPI & SPEL software and configure for project use, including but not limited to :
  • Software installation and configuration
  • Project creation and archiving, backups, and restoration
  • Project configuration
  • Permission groups, project hierarchy, WBS
  • Catalog and symbol development drawing and report configuration
  • General drafting abilities, all aspects
  • Drawing and report creation and extraction (including CAD)
  • Ability to use Infomaker
  • A detailed knowledge of SPI & SPEL Table structures, SPI & SPEL Import / Export Module, SPEL / ETAP Import / Export module
  • Knowledge of SPI deployment for Multi EPC or workshare Projects
  • Report Development including customized reports
  • Databases and deliverables compliance verification
  • Handover of Project design and reference data
  • Multi-discipline workflow co-ordination
