The Product Management Co-op / Intern will work within the Product team together with other product managers and engineering subject matter experts to complete product research studies and related projects in the area of control and optimization of distributed energy resources (DERs) to support the development and enhancements in next generation product capabilities.

Under the supervision of a lead product manager, the intern will investigate current industry standards, requirements and best practices, conduct research on other market-leading commercial offerings, document product functionality, and contribute to recommendations for improved performance.

Specific projects are aligned to business priorities and candidates interest areas. Ideally, we are looking for an 8-12 month commitment, with the opportunity to convert to a regular, FT employee upon graduation.

  • Perform market requirements and product capability analysis
  • Conduct research and experiments to assess statistical performance characteristics
  • Present research findings to Product team
  • Specifies new product functional requirements
  • Supporting product development plans (schedule, product cost, meeting design inputs)
  • Interfacing with internal company personnel and external partners
  • Travel to other Generac facilities as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned. Minimal Qualifications :
  • Currently pursuing an undergrad degree or higher, ideally with specialization in distributed energy resources and / or related markets
  • The ability to work up to 25-30 hours per week Preferred Qualifications :
  • Currently pursuing a MS degree or higher, ideally with specialization in distributed energy resources and / or related markets or in final year pursuing a BS.
  • The ability to work up to 40 hours per week Knowledge :
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle Skills :
  • Microsoft Office experience including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proficient oral and written communication and able to write clearly and succinctly to get a message across. Physical demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear;
  • and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.

    The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus.
