Job Purpose

The Medical Education Manager is responsible for development and execution of an annual Medical Education plan to drive Sports Medicine / ENT and Orthopaedic business objectives in Canada through industry leading Medical Education.

This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Vice President, Global Content Development, Strategy and Medical Education Americas.

Job Responsibilities

The Medical Education Manager is responsible for :

  • Developing and executing annual medical education plan using medical education tools such as Courses, Grants, Product Training, and Education, Labs, Hospital Visiting Surgeon Programs, OnSite visiting surgeon programs, and webinars and digital tools to drive product adoption through safe and effective product and procedure training
  • Building strong relationships with HCPs to organize and execute industry leading, innovative educational events within the Canadian marketplace
  • Collaborating with Canadian Societies and Academic Institutions in support of annual education plan
  • Coordinating HCP attendance to global / regional education events outside of Canada
  • Implementing adult learning techniques into all aspects of medical education plan
  • Measuring educational event effectiveness and efficiency with the goal of delivering continuous quality improvement
  • Collaborating with the Global Content Development team to identify gaps, needs, and opportunities for digital strategies within the Canadian market
  • Communicating event plan to S+N stakeholders and HCP partners to drive attendee participation across all medical education tools
  • Coordinating all Canadian medical education event logistics
  • Collaborating closely with Canadian commercial team to insure medical education plan meets commercial objectives with focus products, mix of events, and focused messaging
  • Insuring HCP faculty are appropriately selected and trained to deliver highest level of medic (may include product and procedure content as well as speaking / presentation skills training)
  • Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in a humanities or business related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an education or compliance function
  • Proven experience in cross-functional project delivery
  • Experience in medical device or pharmaceutical industry is required- orthopaedics and / or wound management is highly desired
  • Certificate in Training, Teaching, or Coaching highly desirable
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills written and verbal
  • Up to 35% travel is required
  • Knowledge, Expertise and Experience

  • Good understanding of healthcare system and key stakeholders
  • Understanding of medical industry and medical codes of practice
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail : planning, prioritizing, objective setting, meeting management and implementation
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills and the ability to develop relationships with internal and external customers
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Influencing, negotiating, and conflict resolution skills
  • Flexible 'can do' attitude, adaptable to change
