Job Description

As part of a multidisciplinary team on the on the Canadian Surface Combatant Project (CSC), you will provide proven and innovative approaches to identify, communicating, mitigating technical risks for our client Irving Shipbuilding Inc.

ISI) in Halifax, Nova Scotia. You will interact directly with all client levels and be responsible for obtaining concurrence with stake holders in development of a cohesive coordinated risk strategy able to easily be implemented across multiple disciplines and seniority levels.

Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders and subject matter experts to determine and document risk tolerances and required corrective actions.
  • Assessing current and potential risks using a SWOT Analysis / Matrix to identify Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats related to CSC Program.
  • Developing, recommending and driving programmatic controls and process improvements throughout the engineering / technical process.
  • Monitoring adherence to action plans, assessing milestones, and noting control deficiencies.
  • Creating continuity plans, guides, and policies designed to limit risks without encumbering productivity.
  • Conducting policy and compliance audits throughout the entire process.
  • Maintaining records of deficiencies, actions and results.
  • Building risk awareness across the organization by providing support and training.
  • Candidate / Position Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Active Security Clearance
  • BS or Advanced Degree in Engineering or in a Relevant Discipline.
  • 8(+) Years of Hand-On Engineering Experience including 3(+) years in a Technical Project / Program Management or Governance, Compliance or Risk Management Role.
  • Demonstrated success in a Technical Maritime Program Management role.
  • Demonstrated quantitative and analytical skills, along with the ability to apply those skills across a variety of business and engineering processes.
  • Strong understanding of maritime technical regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent Oral, Written and Presentation Skills.
  • Strong Time Management and Organization Skills as an Independent Contributor.
  • Demonstrated Interpersonal Skills as a member of a Collaborative multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated success balancing strategic thinking with tactical, detailed execution while working independently, sorting through ambiguously defined problems, identifying and facing big challenges and adjusting to sudden and frequent change.
  • Lean or Six Sigma Green / Black Belt certification is a plus.
  • Program Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
