    The Mobile Centre of Excellence (MCoE) focuses on applying modern development & delivery best practices by leveraging DevOps processes & tools to contribute to the ability to deliver great quality digital experiences to our clients in a timely manner.

    Speed & agility is a key focus within Sun Life's digital strategy.

    As the DevOps Engineer you will focus on supporting and guiding teams on DevOps best practices, promoting adoption of existing tools, implementing new ones, and identifying areas of improvement for any phase within the SDLC, eliminating bottlenecks and increasing efficiencies in all areas.

    Coaching & mentoring is also an element where you will guide the team on best practices and support them throughout the delivery of the mobile, web and internal applications.

    You will execute DevOps initiatives, which include scheduling, coordinating and management of projects that span across practice areas for multiple applications in the Lumino Health portfolio.

    Where necessary, you will advise on and deploy new technologies required for our products, monitor and improve the performance of infrastructure systems, support Continuous Integration, and analyze the need for Continuous Deployment. Automation.

    You will work on the DevOps effort within the Lumino Health portfolio and will work with IT management to improve the development engineering processes and practices.

    Key responsibilities of this role are as follows :

  • The DevOps Engineer will participate in the preparation of a DevOps Roadmap for the Lumino Health portfolio, by working in collaboration with the MCoE DevOps director and other DevOps teams to prepare the overall plan for Sun Life.
  • Lead DevOps initiatives to increase efficiencies within the team
  • Implement DevOps best practices to take the team to the next level
  • Identify gaps including any DevOps tools insufficiencies
  • Use automation to deploy, configure, manage and monitor our products
  • Resolve service problems for the systems you are maintaining
  • Scale current infrastructure; help migrate to better tools if needed
  • The successful candidate will have the following skills :

  • Possesses a engineering degree and / or 8+ years relevant work experience
  • A minimum of 3 years of DevOps experience
  • A minimum of 4 years working in a SDLC and / or ITIL delivery process
  • Experience leading and delivering IT initiatives leveraging Agile delivery processes
  • Experience with CI services such as GitLab, Jenkins, Travis, or CircleCI
  • Experience in implementing and improving processes
  • Familiar with cloud based technologies
  • Drive data-driven decisions and strategies
  • Change leadership and change management skills
  • Sound business and technical acumen, with demonstrated agility in learning and ability to quickly become comfortable with unfamiliar businesses areas or technologies
  • Good presentation, written and verbal communication skills that bring clarity and precision to the audience
  • Nice to have :

  • Mobile Development Knowledge (Android and iOS)
  • The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.

    In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
