AS A CARPENTER FOREMAN, YOU WILL : Organize, direct and supervise employees engaged in specific functions on construction projects.
Work to complete his portion of the project on time and on budget. Knowledge of the full range of materials, methods and tools involved in construction projects Knowledge of business and management principles (planning, resources, leadership, production, costing) Supervise the construction of a portion of a project under the direction of a Superintendent Maintain ongoing communication with the Superintendent Assigns work to carpenters Takes an active role in the hiring, training, firing and assigning of field personnel Monitors and addresses cost and labour performance of construction projects in conjunction with the Superintendent Selects and instructs crews Carries out the implementation of management decisions such as construction methods, schedule, quality and safety Responsible for on-
site project administration and reporting of labour, equipment and material (payroll administration, labour coding of time, equipment coding, material purchase orders coding) adhering to company standards as it relates to the foreman’s portion of the project Safety responsibilities as outlined in the Loss Management Manual Leads weekly toolbox meetings Reads and interprets drawings, blueprints and specifications Supervises testing Assists with the preparation of execution plans, ITP’s, safe work plans, work assignments etc.
Assists with grievance issues and general site labour issues REQUIREMENTS : Must be a Journeyman Carpenter Minimum of 5 years’ experience with concrete form work Leadership and supervision experience Ability to assume the role of a Superintendent for interim periods Ability to recognize potential problems and report them in a timely fashion Ability to manage material and human resources (appropriate use of materials, equipment and people) Knowledge of trade mathematics and imperial and metric measurements Knowledge of the characteristics of construction materials and their proper use Knowledge of installation equipment, techniques, wiring or programs to meet specifications Work at heights, good balance Bend, stretch, lift push, pull and carry Coach, mentor and train apprentices Describe and point out safety compliance and regulatory issues Good communication and interpersonal skills both upward and downward Work both independently and as part of a team Precision work without close supervision Must have current CSTS, Fall Protection and Aerial Lift certificates JASPER CONSTRUCTORS OFFERS : Competitive compensation Group insurance benefits and RRSP program Opportunities for advancement Safe working environment View available job opportunities and submit your application online at http : / / www.
