Under the direction of the Manager, Business Registration, the Customer Service Representative is responsible for multiple business processes relating to registrations, refunds, rebates, mail processing, application adjudication / processing / investigation, data entry and accounting / cash handling functions.

The Customer Service Representative will also be responsible for providing information services relating to the departmental registration processes in accordance with the Acts, Regulations and Policies administered by the department.

The Customer Service Representative will liaise regularly with client departments, program areas, other divisions within government and the general public.


Four years’ experience in a customer service environment working effectively with the high volume transactions and multiple processes (Equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable).

The successful candidate must have : superior customer service orientation, excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), teamwork attributes, strong interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills.

Knowledge in the interpretation and administration of government programs, legislation and regulation, specifically those administered by Service Nova Scotia and the ability to deal diplomatically with members of the public while providing quality customer service in a fast-

paced changing environment are requirements of this position. In addition, the successful candidate will have cash handling and balancing experience.

The successful candidate will have excellent keyboarding and superior data entry skills and must be proficient with PCs and software programs such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.

Knowledge and experience with Amanda and REGIS is a desirable asset.

Pay Grade : CL 18

Salary Range : $1,510.00 - $1,689.00 Bi-Weekly

This is a bargaining unit position initially restricted to current civil service employees represented by the Nova Scotia Government Employees Union (NSGEU).
