As our Operations and Maintenance Director you are responsible for the management of all operational labour and equipment resources, including the delivery of an operations plan and the management of all shift operations at the terminal, to achieve customer requirements and operational commitments.
This includes responsibility for the Engineering functions of the business.
As our Operations and Maintenance Director you will :
Lead by example in the delivery of safe work practices and ensure the continual identification and management of hazards to reduce accidents and injury, including incident investigation and implementing corrective actions.
Develop the short, medium and long term operations plans to deliver on operational commitments and customer expectations.
Providing regular reports and analysis on the productivity of ship, yard, equipment and resource utilisation.
Contribute to the planning and analysis required to execute collective bargaining negotiations and labour reviews.
Ensure adequate resourcing to deliver operational requirements (absenteeism & leave plan management).
Manage and own the operations labour budget.
Review equipment requirements against inventory to ensure operational needs are met in advance of growth, maintenance schedules are supported and the profile is economically and operationally sustainable.
Lead the maintenance team to ensure that all equipment is ready and able to meet operational demands.
Resolve customer operational service delivery concerns and provide feedback to the Commercial Manager on relevant customer issues.
Maintain effective working relationships with customer contacts.
What you bring to the role :
Tertiary qualifications in business, communications, operational management, logistics or other relevant field or extensive relevant work experience.
Completion of an Operations Management Diploma is highly regarded. Preference will be given to those with Lean Six Sigma or other designation.
3-5 year’ experience and a proven track record of leading both operations, engineering / maintenance teams.
5-7 years’ previous experience in line management with a large customer focused operation, in stevedoring, transport or related field.
Previous P&L responsibility.
Experience in negotiating with Unions and employee representatives.
Experience in working in a Safety Management System environment.
