  • Please note : this position is for a 1-year term.
  • Overall job purpose :

    Reporting to the Managing Editor, CMAJ Group, the Manuscript Editor prepares editorial and graphic material for CMAJ Open, and other scientific material as requested, through substantive editing, copy editing, research, writing and / or rewriting and proofreading.

    Key responsibilities :

  • Ensure technical accuracy and a high editing standard, through substantive editing and copyediting for CMAJ Open and other projects as needed;
  • adhere to publication deadlines and to the mission, vision and values of the CMAJ.

  • Solve problems and negotiate changes to text, tables and figures with authors.
  • Collaborate with the editor-in-chief, deputy editors, manuscript editors and editorial coordinators in the preparation of material related to CMAJ Open and other projects.
  • Provide advice on editorial and production matters to manuscript editors and other members of editorial team as needed.

  • Education :

  • University (Bachelor’s) degree, preferably in life sciences, medical science or related field OR equivalent experience in scientific and / or biomedical editing.
  • Experience :

  • 3-5 years in scientific and / or biomedical editing
  • Fluency in French is considered an asset
