Working under general supervision, this job contributes to Wawanesa’s success by providing leadership to all governance functions for quality assurance utilizing industry best practices.
The Manager, Quality Assurance Center for Enablement is responsible for leading a team to drive continuous improvement in quality assurance through the development, monitoring and continuous enhancement of strategies, systems, policies and procedures to bring about significant and measurable improvement in quality assurance at Wawanesa.
Oversee resource management for Quality Assurance, including partnering with vendor organizations to improve demand / supply visibility and execution assisting QA to be able to deliver better.
Develop and deliver on a 360-degree strategy for QA including automation, performance, functional and user acceptance testing.
Own the performance of QA metrics, establishing baselines and monitoring performance, recommending actions and implementation plans for improvement towards benchmarks.
Act as the point of escalation across Test Governance functions within Quality Assurance.
Provide governance oversight to strategic projects / programs and contributes to providing necessary governance controls.
Build strategic collaboration with vendor partners to work proactively on identifying and working on improving operational performance of QA.
Oversee and coach a team to ensure the work environment is respectful, challenging, rewarding and employees are maximized to their full potential while contributing to company goals
Work with leaders throughout the organization to deliver a quality centric culture that strives to deliver an exceptional and consistent experience.
Participate, contribute and manage the annual budget including staff forecasting.
Participate and contribute to the succession planning process.
Develop and deliver projects and presentations to multiple business groups
Develop and enhances productive business relationships by liaising with internal and external stakeholders
Keep abreast of industry developments, both internally and externally, to ensure currency and to provide recommendations for improvements.
Act as a go-to source within Wawanesa for information, best practices and competitive strategies on quality assurance.
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior Information Technology environment, preferably in leading testing governance for a large quality assurance team.
Post-secondary degree / certificate preferably in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
Experience in defining and implementing effective governance processes, reporting platforms and driving processes compliance.
Experience with relevant software tools, project lifecycles, methodologies and technologies around test governance.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner with style fitting for the audience and message and the ability to coordinate within and outside of the delivery team.
Advanced planning and organizing skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize a busy workload and multiple projects.
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills and an ability to recognize, and identify issues and take proper action to resolve them.
Excellent leadership, and motivating skills, with the ability to facilitate high team morale by encouraging and coaching team members and providing direction for them to achieve goals through clear instruction.
Ability to make excellent and well justified decisions in complex and high pressure situations and coach others to do the same.
Knowledge and experience in the insurance industry is considered an asset.
Experience in a continuous delivery environment including toolsets and processes is considered an asset.
