We are looking for a Plant Maintenance Supervisor for our client who is in the plastics printing & packaging industry!
This candidate will manages the overall operation of the maintenance department through the safe implementation of industry best practices and the effective supervision of all direct and indirect reports, ensuring all printed products meet organizational and legislative specifications.
Manages the activities of all direct reports to ensure the timely achievement of departmental targets and organizational goals, within prescribed policies, procedures and standard business practices through the provision of regular feedback in the form of departmental meetings, objective setting sessions, performance appraisals, coaching and counselling, discipline, training and the assignment of developmental projects :
Assists in the hiring and / or termination of all direct reports, in accordance with prescribed policies, procedures and legislative requirements
Liaises on a regular basis with all Plant management, including, but not limited to Owners, General manager, Production Supervisors, Sr.
Operations manager, and Operations manager. Liaises with planning to determine a realistic maintenance schedule based on CSR and delivery dates in order to ensure customer service standards are met or exceeded.
Checks the condition of all machines to meet company specifications; immediately addresses any issues / malfunctions within own scope of knowledge and refers all other issues to next level of management.
Oversees the maintenance of all related equipment such as, but not limited to, bag machines, shipping machinery and maintenance equipment in order to ensure all departments are operating at optimum productivity levels;
performs all repairs within own scope of expertise or contacts appropriate service personnel when maintenance needs are outside of own area of knowledge;
reviews related equipment needs on an annual basis, makes recommendations for upgrades and forwards recommendations to Operations Manager for further consideration.
Maintains parts inventory and placing orders with appropriate suppliers; obtains approvals for items outside own area of authority from Operations Manager before ordering;
receives goods, reviews and approves packing slips; matches packing slips to related invoices and forwards to Operations Manager for approval and processing.
Develops Health and Safety plans for own area of responsibility and trains staff regarding appropriate procedures; conducts all required Health and Safety procedures in accordance with legislative and organizational requirements in order to ensure employees have a safe environment in which to work and financial liabilities for the organization are limited.
Researches new maintenance processes through internet search, reading and discussions with network contacts and shares findings with Operation Manager in order to enhance productivity, reduce costs and increase revenues.
Prepares all related reports for own area of responsibility in a timely and accurate manner.
Ensures the preventative maintenance system is optimized and preventative and machine repairs are completed on time and within budget.
Maintains all related records in a confidential and organized manner so that current information is readily available to authorized personnel upon request.
Performs other related duties as assigned, including, but not limited to, performing the work of direct and indirect reports during their absence
Functional Responsibilities :
Perform efficiently and effectively all emergency breakdowns while maintaining cost considerations and production considerations.
Analyse all machines in the plant to ensure the most efficient operation of the machine is being achieved.
Maintain an acceptable inventory of spare parts
Ensure that all the maintenance equipment is working safely and in good working order.
Issue PO’s for the necessary parts and service and forward the invoices to accounting for processing.
Co-ordinate the use of outside contractors for the necessary repairs as needed while respecting budgets.
Set up the preventative maintenance system for all machines in the factory and ensure the schedule is adhered to.
Industrial Mechanic Millwright (433A) a must have
Industrial Electrician (422A) would be nice to have
At least 10 (ten) years related experience in progressively responsible roles with at least one year in a supervisory capacity
Excellent knowledge of how production processes effect the quality of product
Excellent ability to multi-task with good organizational and prioritization skills
Excellent ability to adapt to a fast paced, changing work environment which includes shift changes and product variation
High level of patience, tact, diplomacy
Good written and verbal communication skills (English)
Ability to work under moderate pressure in order to meet tight deadlines imposed by circumstances beyond own control
Team player able to relate with all levels of staff
