About the Position :
The Department of Earth Sciences at Carleton University invites applications from qualified candidates for a preliminary (tenure-track) appointment in Paleoenvironmental Sedimentology at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning July 1, 2021.
The Department is interested in candidates with demonstrated excellence conducting interdisciplinary, field- and lab-based research in sedimentary systems.
The candidate is expected to make use of modern geochemical tools in addition to field-based analysis to study inorganic and fossil (micro or macro) material for the purposes of environmental analysis, documenting past and-or present environmental conditions, and integrating sedimentary facies and (paleo)ecological parameters.
The candidate must be able to teach core courses in sedimentary geology, have demonstrated field and laboratory experience, and, in addition to providing a thriving graduate-research program, supervise 4th year theses in the Earth Sciences B. Sc. Honours program.
