Job Overview and Responsibilities :

  • Technical expertise and ownership of the site electrical systems.
  • Delivers electrical & instrumentation design, execution and commissioning for site capital projects
  • Actively engages in the development of improved engineering procedures, standards and methods.
  • Supports advancement initiatives in the areas of Safety, Quality, and Operations Improvement through utilization of a continuous improvement culture.
  • Ensure electrical systems and processes operate effectively, efficiently and safely.
  • Responsible for all aspects of maintenance and improvement initiatives on Site electrical systems.
  • Technical lead for Electrical system standardization, maintenance and improvement.
  • Responsible for design, execution and commissioning on capital projects, comprising : oCompleting the E&I design for projects to match with the overall project design objectivesoManaging cost and schedule on E&I aspects of projects, including connection to site DCS & PLC systemsoDefining detailed scopes of work for installation subcontractorsoSupervising the installation of the E&I elements of projects, including contractor induction & managementoTesting and commissioning of the installed equipmentoAssistance in the commissioning of the projectoProviding full as-
  • built documentation of the installed equipment, oProviding the site maintenance team with training / familiarization on the new equipmentoEnsuring that the E / I elements of the project are designed and installed in compliance with all Solvay, site and national standards

  • Works collaboratively with both internal and external resources on projects, i.e., design engineers, operation engineers, purchasers and other internal staff to achieve project goals
  • Manages adequate technical, engineering and contractor resources to meet project deliverables.
  • Supports the development and execution of Site improvement projects to ensure business deliverables are achieved.
  • Leads or participates in selected work process and area improvement team initiatives with a focus to drive improvement activities for power systems.
  • Manages Site documentation of area electrical classifications and compliance with national electrical codes and other applicable standards.
  • Other duties as assignedEducation and Experience : B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering preferredSkills :
  • Experience with project design and management
  • Relevant work experience in a chemical manufacturing setting (including Electrical Power Distribution, Switchgear & MCC, Motors, UPS, Transformer)
  • Knowledge of DCS hardware (Emerson DeltaV) preferred
  • Experience working in a high hazard site, with experience of PHA, MOC, SIS
  • Experience & knowledge of CSA, CEC & ISA E&I international standards, industry codes, practice guidelines and applicable legislations
  • Ability to influence change and realize innovation
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to effectively gain and share knowledge
  • Ability to effectively learn and use project engineering tools such as Microsoft project and drawing viewers
  • Experience using SAP preferred
