The Retoucher works directly with photographers and producers at the creative photo studio to ensure that Holt Renfrew’s assortment is beautifully presented on our channels.
Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following :
Retouch product, fashion editorials, beauty portraits, food, and lifestyle imagery
Provide expert retouching services for a variety of projects as needed across all channels : Holt Renfrew website, social media, email campaigns, in-store signage, print advertising etc.
Responsible for processing raw imagery, editing images, file output, maintaining quality of images, understanding of production needs and ability to meet tight deadlines
Ensure that all images are reflective of our company's standards of quality, color consistency and overall brand aesthetic
Remove imperfections and create consistency in product and model imagery including but not limited to : detailed colour correction, pathing and masking, advanced cloning and precise close cutting
Follow retouching notes and work with creative team to advise on the most effective way of achieving required results
Provide clear and effective communication to the Photo Studio Manager, updating on progress, key dates and deadlines to ensure the smooth delivery of assets
Organized and detailed management of assets, particularly maintaining consistency with file naming conventions
Ensure colour consistency across all images, matching digital imagery to physical samples and adjusting imagery from different cameras and sets
Use Capture One and the Adobe Creative Suite to manage, adjust and process internal and external photo shoots from raw files to final product
The ideal candidate :
Has a post graduate degree or diploma in Photography or Graphic Design or related field
A minimum of 3 years of experience in retouching, ideally in luxury fashion / photography studio
Excellent interpersonal skills; a team player who is able to act as both a leader and an individual contributor as required
Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (specifically : Photoshop, Lightroom and Bridge) and working knowledge of Illustrator and InDesign
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Capture One is an asset
Proven organizational skills, possessing a high level of attention to detail.
Strong time management skills with the proven ability to work under pressure with tight and changing deadlines.
Understanding of print, digital and file specifications
Proven, high level of competency with colour management, colour space and RGB to CMYK conversions.
Highly service-oriented with exceptional organizational and follow up skills
Strong communication skills
Passionate about fashion and luxury retailing
Ability to work with art directors and creatives to understand expectations as well as communicate retouching needs, scheduling and any issues that arise
Candidates must include a portfolio or samples of previous completed work
Select candidates may be asked to complete pre-employment testing of retouching skills as part of the hiring process.
