Flex Ottawa is a fast-paced design centre servicing global customers in the industrial, automotive, consumer and telecom sectors.

Acting as a trusted design advisor to our customers, we work on multiple medium to large scale projects in a given year, giving our engineering teams the opportunity to continuously learn, be challenged and allow for personal growth and development.

Flex is seeking a Systems Architect of Robotics to manage technical requirements for the overall architectural and engineering design of robotics systems.

  • Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do :

  • Function as a global leader in the Robotics group and lead major activities, initiatives, groups, and functional areas as required.
  • Act as technical lead on major projects or customer accounts, take a solution from concept to market ready state. At times this may mean directly managing the overall day to day operations of a major project or accounts.
  • Ultimately responsible for the overall success.

  • Participate and provide key input to the conceptualization of new applications, products, solutions, and initiatives.
  • Contribute as a strategic thinker working with our Robotics team to develop the feature / functionality roadmap by identifying requirements, prioritizing enhancements based on market needs and coordinating releases for continuous product improvement.
  • Participate, lead and assist on the overall Product Development Roadmap management and success as a part of the leadership team.
  • Manage internal resources, external third parties, and any other required elements to facilitate the above product development initiatives.
  • Manage and maintain customer relations with assigned accounts and develop a recurring revenue stream and ongoing relationship with key stakeholders.
  • Fiscal ability to maintain margin and cost budgets of projects and the organization throughout the year and deliver to the expectations of the board and external customers.
  • Ensures that project / department milestones / goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.
  • Here is some of what you’ll need (required) :

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or other related field
  • Master’s degree a plus
  • 15+ years’ experience directly related to Robotic product design and development
  • This position requires a willingness to travel in the US and abroad and the level of travel will vary up to 50%
  • Proven verbal and written communicator ability to speak in public forums and author key documents in a timely, effective, and extremely professional manner
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines effectively under time constraints
  • Ability to manage multiple large-scale initiatives and bring them to successful closure
  • Experience and ability to work in a multivendor (internal and external) delivery and support model involving a variety of partners
