There is an immediate opening for the Engineering Manager for our Green Fleet Product Development team . The incumbent of this position will participate with and supervise associates to develop and support products for Altec's industry leading hybrid electric power systems.

At Altec you will be challenged with designing and testing equipment that leaves the noisy, fuel consuming engine off while the customer continues to operate their equipment.

  • Under your leadership, you and your team will have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of hybrid energy management system design;
  • from discussions with customers, to gathering initial design ideas, through the manufacturing process, and into the hands of Altec's customers.

    This includes :

  • Requirements definition
  • Technical and design responsibility for all aspects of small mechanical or electro-mechanical assemblies which were successfully produced in moderate to high volume.
  • Conceptual designs
  • Component design using Solidworks and AutoCAD
  • Prototype design and build
  • Electrical and hydraulic component selection
  • Performance and design testing and verification
  • Environmental testing
  • Electrical and hydraulic schematic layout
  • Analyze field data for design improvements
  • Cost analysis
  • Design optimization for manufacturability

  • The job level is able to be adjusted at time of hire, if the candidate meets the qualifications for jobs of a more experienced level in the career path.

    Qualifications :

  • 4-year Bachelor's Degree required
  • Engineering Discipline preferred
  • Minimum of six (6) years' experience, two (2) of which were as a Supervisor required
  • Current, valid Driver's License
  • Internal Candidates will be an associate in good standing
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time, potentially on short notice, which may include flying
  • Responsibilities :

  • Sets and manages to objectives for the associates and the department in support of Altec goals
  • Develops and implements strategies for the department
  • Ensures processes and procedures are implemented and adhered to
  • Assumes Management responsibility for the following :
  • Engineering, business, and technical integrity
  • Training of Engineers, Supervisors, and Managers
  • Coordinates resource and manpower management
  • Develops, establishes, and encourages a participative attitude within the project or support team
  • Ensures that Customers and Suppliers value each interaction with the team
  • Additional Responsibilities :

  • Conducts performance reviews
  • Conducts Compensation review and recommendations
  • May manage other supervisors within the Department he / she works
  • Assists in the development and ongoing management or project budgets
