The BC SPCA is currently recruiting for a temporary full-time Animal Control Officer (ACO) to work at our South Peace location in Dawson Creek .
This position, will primarily be responsible for enforcing municipal bylaws per municipal contracts in Dawson Creek. The ACO is to ensure public (people and animal) safety and improve the welfare of animals through the education of the BC SPCA animal management best practices and protocols.
In addition, this position also gives support to other team members as required.
You will respond to calls of both an emergency and non-emergency nature in an effective, efficient, and caring manner. You will respond to situations using your knowledge of animal behaviour, animal handling techniques and proper use of rescue equipment.
You must be able to foster and maintain good public relations and customer service with the public and be able to communicate effectively in a variety of situations in relation to this position.
You treat animals humanely, with compassion and concern, and transmit these values to others both on and off the job. You are a level-headed team player who is calm under pressure and passionate about animal welfare.
You are an excellent communicator and have experieince in conflict resolution and always pressent a professional demeanour.
