Great Canadian is looking for a our GREAT colleague to join our fast-paced Payroll team as our Payroll Administrator / Specialist .
Under the supervision of the Payroll Manager, this position will be responsible for verifying and preparing full-cycle payroll for salaried and hourly team members at our Ontario locations.
Duties and responsibilities for our next Payroll Administrator will include :
Reviewing team member time cards using Time and Attendance systems, identifying inconsistencies, liaising with site managers and HR to resolve issues and Payroll Discrepancy Reports (PDR)
Transferring time cards into JD Edwards
Verifying earnings and applying garnishes, gratuities, retro-pay, taxable benefits, union dues and other irregular deductions / pay adjustments
Processing payroll in JD Edwards and generating direct deposit files
Preparing payroll documentation, recording and filing appropriately to regulatory bodies
Preparing payroll and benefits journal entries for approval and posting
Maintaining the payroll database, identifying inconsistencies, liaising with HR to resolve discrepancies, maintaining hard copy file system as backup
Identifying issues with the payroll process, proposing procedural or system enhancements to improve the accuracy and efficiency of administration
Responding to, resolving or escalating internal and external payroll inquiries
Communicating effectively with all appropriate operational departments
Building strong working relationships with team members and external regulators
Complying with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
Performing other duties as assigned or directed
Successful candidates will demonstrate the following qualifications :
Minimum 3 years of high-volume payroll experience & benefits experience
Knowledge of Ontario Payroll management an asset
Familiar with Employment Standards
High School Diploma; post-secondary education in payroll or a suitable combination of education and experience an asset
Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation an asset
Experience with JDE an asset
Experience with Time and Attendance systems (Kronos, Virtual Roster or other) an asset
Computer literacy in MS Office, Excel at an intermediate level (experience with Pivot Tables and V-Lookups an asset)
