Reporting directly to the Project Manager, Research, the CAMH Nicotine Dependence Service is seeking a Research Analyst to provide support to a variety of clinical and some non-

clinical research activities. This position will involve expertise and knowledge around quality assurance and regulatory requirements, at the local, national and international level and demonstrated experience working with regulatory bodies.

The position requires experience with clinical research and the ideal candidate will be capable of conducting daily tasks with minimal supervision.

Specific daily activities will include but not be limited to : preparation of Research Ethic Board submission documents (protocol amendments, reporting of serious adverse events, reporting of protocol deviations) and may also include preparation of submissions to Health Canada, assisting with study reports and progress reports, ensuring that study protocols are being followed, supporting Research Coordinators in the training of staff and students as necessary, liaising with Research Coordinators and Study Investigators on study activities, assisting with quality assurance monitoring of studies, maintaining study regulatory binders, maintaining study databases as needed, ensuring all study staff and students have completed appropriate training and training documentation is in place prior to carrying out study-

specific tasks. The candidate may also assist in collection of data from research study participants by conducting follow-

up assessments and interviews over the phone and in-person along with preparation of data for analysis, entering data, assisting to prepare reports and to track progress using an online data management portal.

Other administrative and non-administrative duties may be involved, as required. The candidate will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable CAMH policies.

This position is located at 175 College Street, Toronto.

Qualifications :

  • The successful candidate must have at minimum a Bachelor’s Degree with a background in health / clinical research or social sciences, or a specialized Diploma in Clinical Research, or the equivalent, combined with a minimum of 6 months of related experience
  • Previous experience with study monitoring and quality assurance is required
  • Previous experience with submission to Research Ethics Boards and a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and appropriate conduct of research in human participants is necessary.
  • Certification as a Certified Clinical Research Professional is an asset

  • Previous experience maintaining and developing study logs and databases is required
  • Experience working on clinical trials in patients with mood disorders and / or addictions and prior research or service experience with individuals and / or families with mental health and addiction issues is an asset for this position
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient with word processing, PowerPoint, and database software packages, including REDCap. Experience conducting basic analyses using statistical packages (SPSS) and data interpretation, as well as the ability to manage large datasets is an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills along with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and liaise with study investigators
  • Candidates should be highly detail-oriented and be able to exercise initiative and good judgment.
  • The successful candidate should have well-honed time management skills with the ability to efficiently multi-task and produce high-
  • quality, accurate work while meeting program deadlines. Demonstrated experience working on multiple projects is ideal.

  • Candidate requires the ability to work effectively in a variety of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Bilingualism (French / English) and / or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.

    Please Note : This full time, contract position ending March 31, 2019 is part of the OPSEU Bargaining Unit.

    Salary Range : $23.76 - $31.70 per hour
