An exciting opportunity for Manufacturing Engineer . This is a permanent opportunity with Qvella Corporation located in Richmond Hill, Ontario.

Nature and Scope of Work :

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring and maintaining effective and efficient production processes, test processes and work flow for the instrument production line.

Interact with Engineering, Production and Quality Control in order to ensure production objectives are accomplished through process design and improvement projects.

We need someone who can hit the ground running with basic “Qvella†training (understanding our instrument and familiar with our industry ISO regulations).

Our ideal candidate would be someone who can develop and implement procedures, work instructions, efficient production process flow as well as the ability to work with the instrument hands-on (calibration, assembly, troubleshooting).

The first part (developing and implementing procedures) would be the majority of the focus of this role, but the candidate would also need to be hands-on to best be able to develop and implement those procedures, and assist Development team with prototype building and testing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Plan, develop, and implement test methods and procedures for instrument production.
  • Develop test plans, test scripts to meet production testing requirements.
  • Organize implement and maintain production process flow.
  • Provide process control charts, reliability, process capability data to monitor / measure progress to target.
  • Conduct production process verification and validation activities according to established procedures.
  • Develop work instructions and process documents for assembly, integration and testing of instrument production.
  • Work with design engineering on all aspects of product DFX.
  • Assist Development team with prototype build and testing.
  • Work with other relevant groups to determine estimated costs, run time, and close the feedback loop.
  • Liaise with production, supply chain on production process.
  • Develop work instructions and process documents for testing and instrument calibration.
  • Investigate operational issues affecting production, testing / calibration and report / recommend solutions.
  • Continually improve production and testing operations through tooling and fixtures design for increased quality, productivity, efficiency and cost savings.
  • Train and supervise production staff on new process and methodology.
  • Other tasks as needed.
  • Other Job Requirements :

  • Assist in product inspection, test and Calibration.
  • Assist in production process improvement as required.
  • Other production and quality related tasks as required.
  • Experience / Qualifications :

    At least 5 years of experience in :

  • Production process engineering, product test, equipment and tooling.
  • Instrument Calibration and running test scripts.
  • Strong experience in DFX aspects.
  • Root Cause Analysis, Troubleshooting and debugging.
  • Working familiarity with new product introduction activities and design transfer through product release.
  • SolidWorks or other CAD applications experiences.
  • Previous experience with manufacturing of medical Devices / instruments is a plus.
  • Proven track record in process design and process test improvement resulting in product quality improvement.
  • Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control, lean manufacturing, six sigma and ISO quality system methodology.
  • SolidWorks
  • Matlab - is a plus
  • Minitab - is a plus
  • Education :

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electronics, Instrumentation) or related field.
