Summary

The Business Systems Analyst has a hybrid responsibility for the ongoing reliable, efficient and effective operation & growth of Champion’s information technology systems.

The Business Systems Analyst acts as a central business & technical figure in the development & implementation of solutions to technical-related business problems as well as in ERP support, enhancements, repairs, and upgrades.

Since the ERP system is at the heart of many Champion business processes, ensuring the smooth integration of data between the ERP and other corporate applications is a business necessity.

Working as part of the IT Enterprise applications team you will work within a community of disciplines (e.g. IT Operations, IT Enterprise Applications, the Project Management Office, various Champion business units, and diverse consultants), the Business Systems Analyst must be an excellent communicator and be able to synthesize many views of problems into cohesive solutions.

The Business Systems Analyst will be the principal resource in managing the full lifecycle of software projects, including requirements gathering, vendor relationships, development, status reporting, implementation, quality assurance, testing, and closeout.

This position reports to the Director of Enterprise Applications and is located in the Champion corporate office in South Edmonton and requires some travel to other Champion locations.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement technical solutions by partnering with vendors or performing in-house development or a combination of both.
  • Integrate to the ERP platform and or other applications (on premise or cloud-based) as required.
  • Safeguard the integrity of the application environment by managing the development, testing, and implementation of application functions.
  • Develop excellent working relationships with Champion business units, IT staff, vendors and a variety of consultants.
  • Maintain and expand a knowledge of Infor ERP’s product suite and its future directions.
  • Troubleshoot ERP problems and provide Tier 0 and Tier 1 support as required and ensure the appropriate resources are engaged in resolution, and follow-up on incidents.
  • Participate in the strategic planning and tactical use of the application systems for today and the future.
  • Write and maintain documents related to design, implementation, and operating practices.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a relevant field.
  • Extensive experience with the Infor suite of products (e.g. M3, XM, d / EPM, Birst) is considered an asset.
  • Experience using software methodologies (both waterfall and agile) through the entire software lifecycle.
  • Experience implementing software solutions and collaborate with Project Managers, Vendors and business staff to support a smooth implementation
  • Strong analytical abilities, with ability to identify problems then determine & implement solutions, often within a time sensitive framework.
  • Good planning skills, including ability to organize, prioritize, and execute within a time sensitive framework across multiple projects and initiatives at a time.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Service Bus and integration methodologies supporting an assortment of enterprise on-premise and cloud-based platforms considered an asset
  • Experience working in Infor development, .NET development or Salesforce development considered an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to clearly communicate ideas and proposals and to discuss technical issues with non-technical clients.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain successful professional working relationships with internal departments, key managers, and other stakeholders to further corporate business goals.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License, with ability to travel between the Company’s locations and willingness to accept temporary assignment(s) to surrounding Company locations.
  • Ability to work extended business hours and days and to be accessible (via company cell phone) to corporate employee end-users needing after-hours IT support.
