The opportunity

  • We currently have an excellent career opportunity for Tax Manager candidates in our Mobility team. Mobility services include Canadian and US personal income and social security tax compliance and advisory services;
  • mobility policy design; executive compensation advice; employer tax advice; and global coordination. Using cutting-edge technology and working with team-oriented colleagues, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting internationally mobile employees of our clients with their Canadian and US personal tax compliance.

    Your key responsibilities

  • Review and sign-off of Canadian and US personal income tax return
  • Oversee responses to Canadian and US tax authority notices through various means of correspondence
  • Analyze client tax data to determine appropriate and optimal Canadian and US filing positions, and to provide tax planning advice to clients
  • Establish and maintain excellent long-term relationships with clients
  • Conduct tax consultations to advise on Canadian and US tax implications of cross-border international assignments / business travel and / or relocations
  • Review and sign off estimated hypothetical tax withholding, tax estimates and tax equalization calculations
  • Provide Canadian payroll advice and guidance
  • Research and prepare emails / memos related to various tax topics
  • Contribute to the national education program by preparing and delivering tax technical material
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and feedback through formal and informal means to more junior colleagues on tax technical and performance management skills
  • Manage the financials of client accounts by developing budgets, determining resource requirements, timely invoicing and appropriate revenue recognition

  • To qualify for the role you must have

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in business / accounting or a related field
  • Enrolled Agent License to practice in front of the IRS will be required within six months of joining
  • Minimum five years of US and / or Canadian personal tax experience
  • Experience with developing junior team members through formal or informal methods
  • Experience working directly with clients / customers in a professional setting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel
  • Note : We will also consider candidates who are open to working remotely from another location within Canada.
