Position Overview

The assignment will provide opportunities for engagement with engineers, managers and others in different departments in the organization, and provide an understanding of some of the workings within the operating and engineering groups at FortisBC.

Responsibilities

  • Perform site visits when working with Distribution Design Group
  • Work with Design Group to document typical work tasks and update training material
  • Work with Design Group, Regulatory and Operations to implement and update process documentation
  • Liaison with other Utilities to develop strategic changes to the department
  • Provide technical support and work with the Distribution Design & Operations group
  • Update Distribution Design Tools and Tool Configuration using various MS Excel and / or scripting methods
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required
  • Requirements

  • Electrical Engineering Student - Third or Fourth year required
  • Valid driver’s license and current abstract
  • Interested in learning more about the Electrical Utility Industry
  • Competent public speaker
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work with a variety of individuals within the Engineering and Operations teams
  • Competence in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Competent with VBA and / or other scripting language
  • Experience or knowledge with AutoCAD
  • Experience with PLS Cadd considered an asset
  • Additional Information

    This is a full-time temporary student co-op opportunity with a 4 month term starting in September 2020 until approximately December 2020
