About the Position

We're looking for a talented Software Engineer to join the Cloud Engineering team at WatchGuard Technologies.

Help us build upon our exciting new Cloud Platform running on AWS Cloud to provide the fundamental building blocks on which next generation cloud security applications are rapidly developed by a community of in-house developers.

The product provides customers with single-sign on, user and license management, security configuration management, mobile integrations and beautiful analytical reports that contains facts about the security of our customer’s businesses.

As a Software Developer on the Cloud Engineering team, the ideal candidate has experience with REST APIs, AWS, Python, SQL, microservices, Angular, and systems integration.

They are not afraid learning new technologies, driving complex future architectural decisions, and moving extremely fast to solve challenging problems.

Help our elite team develop innovative solutions to solve a complex set of use cases that supports onboarding customers, endpoint devices, integrates with other systems and clouds, and new applications.

We deliver on a two week release cycle and developers are empowered to take ownership of their features to deliver high quality code all the way to production.

The position is flexible for remote locations across USA and Canada. The Cloud Engineering teams are in Seattle, WA., Toronto, Canada and Noida, India.

A day in your life

Most days at WatchGuard are fast-paced and dynamic, and your ability to thrive in an ever-changing environment will give you the outlook to determine daily priorities.

A typical day could range from having a discussion with your team on the best approach for your development activities for the current sprint and the prioritization of additional work items, to strategizing on what improvements can be implemented based on what has been learned.

Your day could also include a deep-dive into an adjacent software stack in order to learn and contribute to a new area. You may be asked to ensure that whatever we are building we are able to monitor effectively in production, so that we can make subsequent decisions based on true and meaningful insights.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and deploy secure and scalable web services to solve challenging technical problems.
  • Maintain an open environment of collaboration, transparency, innovation, and fun.
  • Maintain and operate services in production, assess performance and help ensure a high standard of reliability.
  • Participate in code reviews and maintain an environment of positive team work and mentorship.
  • Engage with Product Management and Customer Support in order to understand customer feedback and market needs.
  • Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience developing complex applications and distributed systems.
  • B.S., M.S., or PhD. in Computer Science or similar.
  • Building cloud services using following skills (with a minimum of 1 years of work experience in any of below) Primary language (one or more) : Python / Java / GoOne (or more) databases : MySQL, DynamoDB, MSSQLAWS services (EC2, ECS, Lambdas, S3, API Gateway, RDS, SNS / SQS, DynamoDB, boto3)
  • Front-end development experience using Angular, or React
  • Solid understanding of web technologies including HTTP and RESTful APIs.
  • Understanding of Scrum / Agile & DevOps Process with at-least a couple of years of experience
  • Being at ease with tools / systems like Jira, GitHub, Confluence, CI / CD Pipeline using Jenkins, Cloud Formation templates, Artifactory, Office Suite, Linux
