Lead Hand - Weekends

They deliver the goods. From our Eastern Distribution Centre (EDC) in Brampton ON, this team focuses on running an efficient, well-organized, safe place to work.

They lift heavy objects, wield the box cutters, and get things where they need to go.

As a Lead Hand , you’ll provide outstanding service to our members by leading by example, and providing a positive contribution to the EDC.

You’ll work with an inclusive, hands-on, collaborative group that connects people with quality products to encourage active outdoor lives.

You’ll always be learning, and there’s a good chance your co-workers will inspire you to try something new, like riding in a Fondo, bouldering or paddleboarding.

What you do :

  • Cross train in all EDC functions.
  • Provide EDC staff training, in adherence to all policies and legislation.
  • Plan EDC staff workload and arrange staffing levels based on volume fluctuations.
  • Manage and promote good attendance and ensure staffing punctuality.
  • Promote open communication, teamwork and employee engagement.
  • Ensure best practices for efficiency and quality are being followed by staff.
  • Lead and collaborate on continuous improvement projects.
  • Identify and communicate inventory non conformities (Imbalances / damages).
  • Attend and lead daily start up crew meetings.
  • Assist EDC Supervisors with EDC staff performance reviews.
  • Assist DC Supervisors with the opening and closing of the EDC.
  • Promote a smooth operating, safe, secure place to work.
  • Operate power equipment including, pallet jacks, forklifts, reach trucks, and order pickers.
  • Performs other related duties by department as required.
  • What you bring :

  • Strong leadership abilities. You’re generous with your knowledge and inspire your team members to grow.
  • Shift flexibility; must be able to work a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends.
  • Minimum 6 months experience working in a warehouse.
  • You are mechanically oriented.
  • You can handle projects, lots of projects, at the same time, while keeping cool.
  • Savviness with Windows, Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Great communication skills you listen first, and then share knowledge. This goes for both speaking and writing.
  • You’re stoked on something : you love to run trails, log miles, play in the snow or do something outside every day.

  • Look good in a safety vest.
  • Have Lean Sensai certification.
