    Job Summary

    The Surgical Program at Southlake Regional Health Centre uses a compassionate, innovative and personalized approach to achieve outstanding surgical care and patient outcomes for our community and regions.

    The Surgical Program compassionately delivers excellent close to home services and programs for patients, through inpatient and outpatient care and ambulatory clinics.

    The Surgical Program includes Regional Cardiac, Vascular and Thoracic services as well as a large community practice in General, Urology, ENT, Plastics, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, Gynecology, and Dental / Oral.

    The Surgical Ambulatory Program provides over 25,000 visits annually including cataract, endoscopy, cystoscopy, pulmonary function testing, minor surgical procedures including those for skin cancers.

    The Surgical Program at Southlake provides value-based care that drives excellent surgical experiences, through innovation and collaboration.

    The Manager, Ambulatory Perioperative Services, Respiratory Therapy and Vascular Access Team is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of patient activities and oversight of staff in the Ambulatory Day Care, Endoscopy, Respiratory Therapy, Medical Arts Building (MAB) Surgical Suites and Vascular Access Team.

    This position requires an enthusiastic confident leader who is able to engage all staff in activities that increase quality in the patient experience while optimizing efficiency in operations and patient flow through the surgical experience.

    This leader will be accountable for budget development and performance, oversight of capital equipment planning and operations, quality outcomes and evidence based practice, staff planning, engagement and organizational leadership.

    As the Co-Chair of the Ambulatory Procedure Unit Committee and the Eye Care Committee, this leader will be responsible to set annual goals and objectives for the team and liase with regional committees and partners.

    This leader is required to work as a collaborative team member developing frameworks and methodologies of healthcare performance leading to a superior ease of flow and operations within a challenging healthcare environment with diverse programs and multiple competing priorities.

  • Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate degree in health related discipline required
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years recent management experience in related clinical areas
  • Experience utilizing, analyzing and reporting on data
  • Superior skills in engaging others
  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of the application of the RHPA, Public Hospitals Act and other related legislation
  • Demonstrates superior understanding of systems, system analysis techniques, value analysis process and continuous improvement principles and tools
  • Must maintain appropriate professional affiliations / memberships (specific affiliations depend on previous professional training and nature of job duties)
