The Business Development Manager is accountable for the Company's efforts to maintain and expand relationships with large volume accounts and / or multi-
location consortium or strategic partners, and is responsible for achieving sales quota and defined strategic account objectives within budget in their territory.
The Business Development Manager, under the direction of the General Manager, Sales, is primarily responsible for building key customer relationships with new and existing clients.
This role will manage relationships to ensure ongoing satisfaction and sales growth. Prospecting and closing new partnerships within a defined target market or geographic area to ensure scalable business growth is key.
The Business Development Manager will work with staff from various departments to generate sales opportunities and maximize revenue.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Full accountability and ownership of the annual sales goal for your assigned territory.
Establish productive, professional relationships with key decision makers in assigned partner accounts
Collaborate with the Scenic and Emerald team, including sales support, service, and management resources, in order to meet account performance objectives and customers' expectations.
Meet assigned targets for profitable sales volume and strategic objectives in assigned accounts
All sales reports to our key partners as well as the Vancouver office on a timely basis
Proactively lead account planning process with clients resulting in achieving mutually aligned performance objectives, financial targets, and critical milestones on an annual basis
Proactively assesses, clarifies, and validates customer needs on an ongoing basis.
Lead solution development efforts that best address customer needs, while coordinating the involvement of all necessary company personnel.
Seek out charter / groups opportunities and grow the charter / groups business in your territory
Acquisition : Utilize existing relationships and creation of new relationships to acquire incremental business opportunities for Scenic and Emerald Waterways
Manage marketing plans for all key accounts in the territory,
Provide reports to the General Manager Sales : Weekly report, Monthly Board Report, as well as ongoing market intelligence
Support our trade partner through trainings both on site and virtual; focus on FIT / group / charter, provided representation at trade events and partner conferences as needed.
Continuous improvement to identify incremental opportunities, applying the company's unique selling propositions and core advantages as differentiators versus the competition.
Lead your territory and support the team in execution of national consumer road show / information sessions, presenting new products and services to potential guests in promoting our brand.
3 weeks per round at 3 rounds per year.
Stay up-to-date on the company's current product and service offerings
Required Skills / Qualifications :
Minimum five years of experience in new Business Development and Account Management required
Post-secondary degree or diploma in business, marketing, economics, or a related field preferred
Neat, professional appearance and demeanor expected at all times when representing the company brand at trade functions
Able to travel overnight up to 30% of time within Canada; some overseas travel may be required. Valid passport is required.
A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
Knowledge of Salesforce CRM
Strong Microsoft Office skills
Excellent public speaking and presentation skills
Ability to operate within a defined budget
Self-motivated and well organized, with ability to create realistic schedules and meet deadlines under stress and interruptions
High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability
High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, and facts
