What you’ll be doing :
The QHSE Specialist inspects the conditions of a production manufacturing establishment, as part of their ISO certified QHSE program
Conduct surveys and monitoring programs of the natural environment to identify sources of pollution
Collect samples for analysis; measure physical, biological and chemical workplace hazards; and conduct safety and environmental audits
Investigate quality, health, safety, and environment related complaints, spills of hazardous chemicals, outbreaks of diseases or poisonings and workplace accidents
Inspect workplaces to ensure that equipment, materials and production processes do not present a quality, safety, health, or environmental hazard to employees, the public, or the environment
Develop, implement, and evaluate the ISO QHSE program and strategy
Initiate procedures to shut down production if found to be contravening municipal, provincial or federal regulations
Provide consultation and deliver training programs to employers, employees and the public on issues of public health, environmental protection or workplace safety.
Do you have the right qualifications?
A bachelor's degree or college diploma in a discipline such as environmental studies, engineering, or health and safety is usually required
Several years of related work experience and the completion of ISO QHSE training may substitute for formal education
Certification with the Association for Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (CRSP) is greatly preferred.
