Position Summary :

Assists in the implementation and administration of retirement and pension programs in Canada and US. Consult with and advise employees on eligibility for pension, 401k and other savings plans.

Ensures retirement programs are in compliance with policies, procedures and regulatory requirements. Liaise with vendors and consultants to ensure programs are delivered as designed.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Liaise with providers of pension, 401k and savings plans. Ensure vendors are delivering what they promised and administering plans according to governing plan documents.
  • Administration of Pension, Stock & Savings plans.
  • Main contact for employee on retirement and savings queries.
  • Calculation of pensionable earnings / service for retirement, PAR, PSPA, PCOLA calculations
  • Assist with preparation of budgets by providing ad hoc reports, gathering trend data from providers.
  • Lead the administration and funding of pension & savings plans as assigned
  • Lead the preparation and reporting of all regulatory filings and disclosure notices (ie. Form 5500 and Non-discrimination testing, etc.
  • plan audits, testing and other compliance related activities

  • Lead the coordination and administration of programs from enrollment to pension commencements; consulting actuary and plan trustee on annual reporting, plan audits and testing activities, including compiling employee and retiree data for annual actuarial valuations
  • Updating and maintaining summary plan descriptions and plan policies.
  • Annually review 401k processing of employer True up and Profit-sharing results.
  • Annually review and confirm information reported on employee tax slips.
  • Participate in pension & saving plan meetings, system implementations, and training.
  • Reconcile pension GL accounts and other financial reporting as required.
  • Provide back-up support for pension & benefits team
  • Create and maintain in-house procedure and administrative manuals
  • Participate on special projects as required
  • Required Skills & Abilities :

  • Advanced technical proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with Workday and reporting an asset
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good understanding of Canadian benefit processes and designs & Canadian Pension plan provisions
  • Good understanding of US benefit processes and designs and US Pension plan and 401K provisions
  • Education Preferred : Business Diploma (Human Resources)

    Education Required : Business Degree (Human Resources)

    Experience Required : 3-5 years’ experience with benefit & pension administration in Canada. Experience with US benefits and pensions is a plus
