Job Description & Summary
A career in our Tax Compliance Services practice, within Tax services, will provide you with the opportunity to help our clients meet and manage their tax obligations across unique but ever changing tax specialties.
You’ll advise clients on their local and overseas tax affairs, while acting as a strategic consultant related to business analysis, managing indirect taxes, dispute resolution, and global enterprise tax solutions.
Our team helps our clients with compliance across all taxes, statutory accounting and complex tax reporting. You’ll focus on bookkeeping and monthly reporting, drafting, auditing and filing of local statutory financial statements, and transaction processing.
As a Senior Associate, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping our clients solve their complex business issues from strategy to execution.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to :
Proactively assist in the management of several clients, while reporting to Managers and above
Train and lead staff
Establish effective working relationships directly with clients
Contribute to the development of your own and team’s technical acumen
Keep up to date with local and national business and economic issues
Be actively involved in business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new / existing clients
Continue to develop internal relationships and your PwC brand
Your work will be primarily :
Preparing financial statements from source documentation for investment holding companies and operating companies;
Compilation of client information and working paper file preparation;
Drafting complete financial statements and related notes;
Preparing personal and corporate tax returns and other information.
Year-end tax planning for corporate groups and their shareholders
Supervising and coaching junior staff and reviewing their work where applicable.
Following-up on Notices of (Re) Assessments and other CRA correspondence as required;
Preparing various tax election forms;
Preparing memos to file and other correspondence, as required;
Researching, as required.
To develop strong relationships with high net worth individuals and their families
Accounting diploma or degree from a College or University
CPA designation or equivalent would be a benefit but not required
3-5 years experience planning and executing review engagements in accordance with Generally Accepted Review Standards in addition to preparation of financial statement in accordance with Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises
Fundamental financial accounting and tax knowledge
Sound knowledge of preparing Canadian personal and corporate income tax returns
Solid technical research capabilities in both accounting and tax (i.e., quantitative analytical skills with an emphasis on writing skills)
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Experience with Caseware, Tax Prep, Google, QuickBooks, Sage and Simply Accounting is considered an asset
Takes ownership for own work’s quality, compliance and technical accuracy
Good report writing skills
Good organizational skills and a positive attitude
Ability to work in a consistently fast-paced environment and to meet tight deadlines
Mature self-starter who possesses the intellectual curiosity to delve beyond the surface of a particular issue; self-motivated problem solver
