Provides strategic direction, leadership and oversight for Social Enterprise & Sustainable Business, globally ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are supported in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, procedures and bank-wide imperatives.
Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Lead and direct the Bank’s global Social Enterprise function by developing the strategic framework that develops and cultivates innovative commercial strategies to improve social, economic, and environmental prosperity, where Scotiabank does business.
This role will be expected to drive the overall development, integration and management of the social enterprise and innovation programs that span Scotiabank.
Develop and execute on mid to long-term strategies to position the bank as a sustainability and CSR leader. Improve the sustainability impacts in its operations, advance sustainability innovation that generates financial benefits, embed sustainability in the corporate culture, and engage employees and external stakeholders to advance sustainability at the bank.
Maintain and build on Scotiabank’s leadership position in Corporate Philanthropy. Responsible for leading the development and implementation of Philanthropy and Academic Partnerships strategy aligned with the goals of driving brand equity, propensity and loyalty measures and employee engagement.
Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits.
Communicates the Bank’s risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.
Creates an environment in which his / her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his / her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-
to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML / ATF / sanctions and conduct risk.
Builds a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours;
communicating vison / values / business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.
Education / Experience
Demonstrated experience in building enterprise strategy, project management, consulting, communications, social impact
Financial Services experience is an asset
Strategic thinker capable of thinking broadly and strategically without losing sight of the details
Minimum 10 years’ experience providing leadership to colleagues, staff and collaborating effectively with senior leaders, ideally in a consulting environment
Excellent project management skills with strength in leadership, communication, planning, and personal organization
