Our Toronto office is looking for an IT Project Specialist to join our IT team and own the following responsibilities :
Reporting to the Manager, Project Management Office (PMO), the Project Specialist is primarily responsible for liaising with business units, firm internal functions and IT teams in the documentation and gathering of BDO needs and managing the successful delivery and execution of assigned business and / or technology projects.
He / She, develops and maintains relationships with key business partners and other stakeholders, both internally and externally, ensuring business and technical objectives are met
He / She, under some direction, plans, directs and coordinates project activities to ensure that they meet the approved timeframe, scope, quality and budget expectations
He / She, will apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to help capture, track and validate business requirements to maximize the benefit of investments in business and IT
Adhere to BDO project management standards while managing budgets, risk, project communications (i.e., status reports, issues tracking log, project plans, communication plans, presentations to steering committees, management of documents, etc.
to ensure cost effective, timely and effective delivery of projects
Work with project sponsor to effectively transition projects from an idea through to implementation, ensuring that all project objectives and goals are clearly understood and met
Engage Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and project stakeholders in a timely and efficient manner, managing their involvement and expectations
Liaise between business units and technology teams to elicit, analyze, document, and validate business requirements, user stories and process mapping
Translate requirements into functional / non-functional specifications including but not limited to web, API, cloud, network infrastructure, system architecture, and database technologies
Understanding of system analysis and design, UML, web / UX design, database technologies (SQL), cloud technologies, networking topologies, and IT security standards
Lead workshops, focus groups, structured walkthroughs, JAD sessions, and technical solution reviews in collaboration with technical teams
Understand and apply various techniques to lead, create and motivate a high value project team consisted of various business and IT stakeholders
Participate in project intake / onboarding and delivery of projects of medium to high levels of complexity and risk
Participate in all aspects of project delivery activities including, but are not limited to, documentation of project needs, data analysis / research of needs, solution alternative analysis, and contributing to project schedule and effort estimates
Provide reporting, analytics, and progress updates on initiatives to Project Managers and Management in a timely manner

Your experience and education
You have a University Degree or College Diploma in Software Engineering, Computer Science or Business Administration
You have 3-5 years of professional experience in a Project Management role with Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
You have 3-5 years of professional experience in a Business Systems Analyst role with Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) certification preferred or in progress
You have experience emphasis on working with IT infrastructure, architecture, web development, IT Security, and / or cloud technologies
You have working knowledge and experience with Portfolio, Program and Project Management Lifecycles(PMLC), System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Iterative), Project Management and Business Analysis best practices and Business Analysis tools, activities and methodologies
You have working knowledge and experience in MS suite of products (Word, Excel, Visio, Project, SharePoint, Team Foundation Server, Visual Studio, Power BI), Project Portfolio Management tools (MS Project Online) and Test Management tools (JIRA)
You have strong facilitation, presentation and training skills with the ability to convey complex ideas verbally and written to both business and technical staff
You have strong analytical, time management skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments with varying complexity simultaneously with tight deadlines
You have working knowledge of wireframing / prototyping tools such as Axure RP Pro an asset
You have demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and in a team environment
You have excellent verbal and written communication skills
You have self-development skills to keep up to date with fast-changing trends
If you have experience working in professional services and / or service delivery environment, it will be considered an asset
