We are seeking an experienced District HSE Manager for our Toronto District office located in Oakville, Ontario .
Reviews internal HSE policies and practices to ensure they are current, appropriate, implemented, and communicated to the district.
Develops and rolls out district strategic HSE plan in conjunction with district management.
Develops and evaluates the effectiveness of the district emergency response plan and security plans.
Reviews district training objectives and district trend action plans.
Develops district HSE communication strategy.
Develops district-specific training and verifies that corporate training programs are implemented in the district.
Oversees and conducts formal HSE inspections and audits and creates action plans accordingly.
Verifies that hazard identification tools are in place in the district and evaluates areas for process improvement.
Conducts risk management assessment of trade contractor safety performance and communicates findings to the appropriate stakeholders.
Involved in the response to and resolution of any significant safety incidents and / or environmental incidents.
Looks for opportunities to mitigate / minimize risk and financial exposure for claims.
Reviews project-specific HSE plans.
Develops and maintains strong customer focused relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers.
Builds and supports a culture that values the solution provider and profitability philosophies.
Adheres to role-specific responsibilities outlined in the PCL HSE Manual.
Other duties as required.
Postsecondary diploma / degree in OH&S or a related discipline.
CRSP certification preferred.
12+ years’ HSE experience in related industry.
6+ years’ experience in a supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of construction processes, execution, and terminology.
Strong ability to coach and mentor others.
Expert knowledge of all OH&S and environmental legislation related to the district.
Strong ability to develop, evaluate, implement and communicate HSE process.
Proven ability to influence, coach, and mentor senior management on district HSE processes.
Ability to communicate district issues, trends, and objectives to senior management.
Strong ability to manage and effectively resolve conflict in high-pressure situations.
Strong presentation skills on HSE topics to district management, corporate, clients or other stakeholders.
Ability to develop, influence, and maintain effective stakeholder relationships collaboratively.
Ability to influence safety culture in the district and industry.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
