JOB SUMMARY :
The Physiotherapist (PT) is an integral member of the Physiotherapy service, Allied Health and clinical programs in which care is provided.
Through the provision of patient and non-patient care activities, the PT enhances the quality of life of patients living with spinal cord injury or disease.
Principal responsibilities include : providing assessment and treatment for patients; participating in goal setting with patients;
collaborating with inter-professional staff in providing patient-focused care; facilitating referrals to appropriate community resources;
communicating effectively with patients and internal / external care providers; participating in program planning and development, and professional and hospital initiatives supporting quality management and research;
supervising Physiotherapy students for clinical education; demonstrating an understanding of, complying with, and committing to patient safety responsibilities and corresponding hospital plans, policies and procedures in order to ensure a safe environment for patients.
Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Physical Therapy
Registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario : CPA membership preferred
Basic Cardiac Life Support (B - with 2 person rescuer or C Level) on employment
Minimum of two years relevant clinical experience
Experience in spinal cord rehabilitation preferred
Bobath and / or NDT experience preferred
Seating experience preferred
Hydrotherapy experience preferred
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong computer skills
