Primary goal of this position is to provide technical overview, guidance and support to the work being conducted by our contracted maintenance provider in relation to our heavy / extended maintenance activity.
Maintaining a team approach the successful candidate will work alongside the contracted provider’s workforce ensuring Sky Regional best interests are being met in the short and long term technically and competitively.
1. Management & Leadership
AME license is not necessary but using your well rounded industry experience with a vision to supporting long term heavy maintenance safely and productively is key.
Self-starter who can bring vision to the project for overall benefit.
Providing support for installation and functionality questions / issues related to the Heavy checks and leadership through cooperation.
Utilizing continual improvement methods liaison with internal and external partners to ensure resource coordination to achieve timely milestones.
Completing activity reports as required by the Director of Heavy Maintenance for workforce efficiency and effectiveness.
Facilitate the repair approach and review man hour estimates for non-routine defects occurring throughout the check.
Champion fleet configuration and standardization SB’s from business case creation through to implementation.
Reviewing defect findings for reliability warranty claims.
Providing guidance and feedback to the work force on findings related to the heavy checks.
Proactively following-up with customers on pending / unresolved issues in a timely manner.
Escalating technical concerns for timely resolution.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Heavy Maintenance.
Is effective at communicating, in one-on-one, small and large groups, with peers, direct reports, bosses and external stakeholders.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written with an ability to keep perspective as situations develop.
Provides continuous oversight to ensure processes and procedures are current, aligned with regulatory requirements, and;
optimized for ongoing efficient and effective maintenance service delivery.
Provide regular written and oral status and other reports to Director of Heavy Maintenance (DHM).
3. Safety / Security
Demonstrates and understanding of safety and security issues and ensure work is aligned with requirements.
Ensure Safety committee and reports are submitted through SMS if applicable.
Ensure all safety concerns in the department are addressed to the Health & Safety committee.
4. Policies & Procedures
Responsible to ensure staff perform their duties and responsibilities in accordance with Skyregional Airlines Inc. MPM and Incorporated Documents like DPDs.
Ensure safety is the primary objective by adhering to the Sky Regional Safety Policy.
Must have solid experience of systems, processes and tools needed facilitate and support the Heavy activity.
This is key to providing mentoring of more junior staff and to provide direction to continuous process improvement initiatives.
Maintain excellent working relationship with other maintenance departments and our Heavy team.
Ensure the team is replying to all queries in a timely manner and all queries are dealt with correctly and efficiently.
Responsible for motivating base staff and contract maintenance provider, ensuring good employee morale, handling employee issues, problem solving utilizing analytical skills in a caring cooperative manner.
To provide mentoring of more junior staff and to provide direction to continuous process improvement initiatives.
Initial and recurrent training of staff with respect to system training and procedures.
Maintain accuracy of systems under responsibility.
Identifying ways to provide information quickly and accurately by automating processes within in the base
Other duties as assigned.
Forecast and prepare annual operating budget in conjunction with the Executive.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Good working knowledge of Excel, Word. PowerPoint and Outlook.
Experience in Trax or similar ERP system.
Good negotiation skills and well-rounded aviation experience.
Solid knowledge of CARS, TC legislation, aircraft maintenance programs, aircraft technical publications.
Team playing problem solver.
Education, Certifications and Work Experience
Minimum (5) years’ experience in aviation maintenance
M1 and / or M2, S AME License and experience with regional Aircraft an asset
Previous Heavy maintenance or training and quality control experience is preferred
Understanding of company policies, manuals and applicable regulations
Knowledge of EMB Type aircraft an asset
