Our Mississauga-Millcreek office is looking for a Senior Surveyor to join the Geomatics group. The primary job function will be to provide technical support and field data collection for a variety of engineering and science disciplines and departments.
The responsibilities of the successful applicant will be to :
Perform as lead technical field support with respect to surveying (boundary, location, topographic, construction, civil infrastructure, control, bathymetric, river and creek, and similar).
Assist in the maintenance of field and spatial data within various service groups. Assist company staff on issues and needs related to the survey of spatial data.
As required, assist in the preparation of drawings and figures for environmental projects, using ESRI, AutoCAD, or other related software.
As necessary, work with the supervisor in contacting agencies, consulting firms, and other public sector groups to facilitate the collection of spatial data.
Assist with maintenance of internal technical standards as it pertains to surveying and its associated spatial data.
Report to the supervisor on the status of projects on a regular basis.
Assume related responsibilities and projects as assigned or required.
Skills, Competencies and Qualifications :
A University degree in geomatics, geography, engineering and / or completion of college equivalent program.
10+years’ experience in a similar role within similar industry
Preference will be given to applicants with relevant experience in engineering and / or construction surveying or equivalent;
on the job training will also be provided.
Applicants with MTO survey experience considered an asset.
Proficient knowledge of survey theory, GPS technology and specifically Leica and Trimble RTK and Total Station equipment.
Proficient understanding of Microsoft suite of software required.
Practical knowledge of ESRI and AutoCAD suite of software considered an asset.
Ability to work on multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, and work alone or in a team environment.
Ability to adapt to changing and various work environments (outdoors), willing to work long hours, and able to lift heavy field equipment.
Strong project management, problem solving / analytical skills, leadership and very detailed oriented.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Physical ability to complete site activities associated with job description.
Valid driver’s license and a roadworthy vehicle.
