Design Mechanical Lead Location : Calgary, AB OR Kamloops, BC
We are representing a powerhouse Western Canadian construction company in their search for a Mechanical Design Lead, to be based in either Kamloops or Calgary.
The ideal candidate will have strong Mechanical DESIGN experience, ideally in a supervisory capacity, within the field of Construction OR Architectural Design OR Engineering.
Wood-frame construction experience and deep understanding of BIM / Revit / AutoCAD is a huge asset!
You will be responsible for leading Mechanical designs and ensuring accurate and timely creation of technical drawings and specifications.
The Mechanical Lead works with consultants, designers and internal team to deliver world- class building solutions. This role is required to be an effective team member from concept to client handover and will mentor more junior team members
Accountable for successful execution of Mechanical building designs through the project lifecycle
Act as Subject Matter Expert for Mechanical Design
Accountable for ensuring meeting / exceeding client expectations and contract requirements
Ensuring constructibility and thoroughness of Mechanical design and bill of materials through each project stage
Maintenance and improvement of the Mechanical standards library
Oversee performance of the Mechanical Designers on project controls (schedule, quality and cost)
Ensure Continuous Improvement methods and processes are followed
Review and understand contract summaries of work
Drive innovation within the Mechanical design department
Work with Project Managers to proactively support internal and external customers
Work with external engineering partners and other personnel to resolve design challenges
Forecast project resources for engineering and design
Identify and implement changes to make improvements in schedule and quality commitments
HVAC, Heating and Cooling, Mechanical Design Experience in the Construction space
Engineering Degree, OR Building Technology Diploma
7+ years experience in a related design position is required
Exposure to wood-frame, commercial, industrial or hospitality sectors with leadership responsibility
Experience with scheduling and scheduling programs
REVIT Strong Revit and AutoCAD software experience
Experience with manufacturing or factory-built construction is considered an asset
Strong Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook etc.)
