The Corporate Controller will play an essential role in growing talent and leading the core accounting functions within the business.

They are ultimately responsible for laying the accounting foundations to provide the business with timely, accurate and relevant information.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, your core RESPONSIBILITIES will include :

  • Lead and develop the accounting teams (Accounting, Accounts Payable and Payroll) as the Company works to continuously improve processes and policies.
  • Implement or improve necessary financial controls with a focus on effectiveness balanced with a need to understand the needs of the business and stay nimble and flexible.
  • Assume full accountability for all financial reporting and controls.
  • Provide insight and identify steps to ensure the department can continually maintain or surpass expected service levels in our growth environment.
  • Lead the review and improvement of period reporting including month end management reporting, financial statements (external and internal) and upstream reporting to shareholders and other stakeholders.
  • Analyze, review and provide interpretation of monthly financial reporting that drives discussion and action within the business.
  • Direct ongoing internal control evaluation and development including identifying and communicating deficiencies as well as oversee any required remediation;
  • develop and establish testing and compliance procedures.

  • Oversee and liaise with external auditors.
  • Liaise with treasury team to manage and ensure timely and accurate reporting to financial institutions with respect to required financial reporting needed to support borrowing limits or other analysis.
  • Partner with the internal Tax Manager, providing timely, accurate, complete and relevant financial information to support the ongoing compliance requirements of tax and regulatory authorities.
  • Partner with the FP&A team, providing timely, accurate, complete and relevant financial information to ensure accurate rolling forecasts and support other financial planning & analysis initiatives.
  • Participate in the research and implementation of appropriate accounting standards, policies and procedures possibly including IFRS, IFRS 16 and ASC 842.
  • Ensure accounting department needs are represented in any implementation of required software or other projects.
  • You bring the following QUALIFICATIONS :

    Required :

  • CPA, (CA / CMA / CGA / MBA) or equivalent with at least 10 years’ progressive financial experience
  • A minimum of 3+ years in a Corporate Controller role in an in-house environment
  • Hands-on, progressive leadership experience in a shared services environment (Payroll, Accounts Payable & Accounting)
  • Proven experience in high growth multi-national ecommerce and multi-location retail
  • Proven ability to ensure efficient and accurate day to day accounting tasks are completed while maintaining a view and leading the progress towards the longer-
  • term needs of the business.

  • Proven success in training, development of others, and leading and building strong stable teams.
  • Accustomed to and ability to deliver results within a highly seasonal, high pressure production environment.
  • Self-motivated, accountable and results oriented.
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally
  • Preferred :

  • Experience working in a retail / manufacturing / ecommerce environment
  • Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics AX, ADP, Concur platforms
