Position Summary :
As a member of the Digital Capabilities team, the Manager, Email Marketing is responsible for driving profitable growth and consumer engagement with Harlequin romance books, brands, and authors through effective and creative email marketing programs.
They oversee the strategy development and bring best-in class execution of a high-performance consumer email marketing program with reach across North America.
The Manager, Email Marketing, has an expert understanding of email marketing best practices and uses these to drive substantial growth and engagement across the full portfolio of Harlequin’s email marketing programs.
They will also manage a comprehensive email test plan.
Develop and implement Harlequin’s email marketing strategy.
Grow our romance audiences through optimized email acquisition campaigns.
Supervise the creation of digital assets for new email marketing projects, collaborating with key stakeholders across the organization.
Manage and directly execute production of emails by establishing timelines, maintain an email calendar and scheduling content.
Use IBM Acoustic, email templates, HTML coding, and Canva to produce engaging and visually appealing newsletters.
Implement tactics to provide relevant, informative and engaging content to our romance email subscribers.
Email Program Optimization and Quality Control (20%)
Develop email test plan to test core email delivery variants (i.e. deployment timing, subject line creation, etc.) :
Perform competitive research
Oversee QC of all emails by evaluating content, proofreading copy, coordinating copyediting, testing links and checking rendering on various email domains.
Aim to have all emails error-free.
Ensure all email newsletters, subscriber lists and email acquisition campaigns are CASL compliant.
Talent and Culture (15%)
Develop Human Resources to meet current and future departmental and corporate objectives through succession planning, recruitment and selection, coaching, and supervision.
Post-secondary education in a related field (Advertising, Marketing) and / or relevant experience.
Working knowledge of HTML required
Experience with CRM tools, ESPs and content management platforms required (i.e. AgilOne, and IBM Acoustic) an asset
Microsoft Office proficiency and experience with project management tools
Working knowledge of UX / UI principles an asset
Exceptional attention to detail
Strong time management, organizational and planning skills.
Strong internal and internal relationship management capabilities.
Excellent communication skills, including ability to communicate complex information to non-technical audiences.
Creative and innovative thinker with a drive for results.
