Role Summary

Reporting to the Senior Accountant , the Payroll Administrator is responsible for the efficient and effective operations of the Canadian semi-monthly payroll and assigned USA payrolls.

This includes, but is not limited to, timely and accurate salary and wage payments to staff, establishing and maintaining effective relationships with business partners, providing the highest level of customer service to employees, compliance with all regulatory jurisdictions, optimization of technology, and supporting a continuous improvement philosophy.

A key element of this position is for the Payroll Administrator to positively collaborate and operate in a complex environment with high volume of employee transactions, new or changing business units, and other influencing factors which arise from time to time.

What you will do :

  • Process Canadian semi-monthly payroll (multi-Provinces).
  • Support with USA hourly payroll.
  • Prepare and maintain standard reports, respond to queries, and conduct appropriate audits to ensure payroll data integrity.
  • Ensure accurate payroll calculations and deductions.
  • Prepare remittances for federal and provincial taxes, garnishments, pensions etc.
  • Reconcile payroll remittances per pay, monthly and annually.
  • Provide and reconcile RRSP / 401k payroll deductions to HR after each payroll submission.
  • Assist with training, holiday schedule maintenance, and queries regarding the Kronos Time and Attendance System.
  • General accounting duties, as assigned.
  • Provide customer service to employees in all aspects of payroll.
  • Filing and other administrative duties.
  • What you have :

  • 7 - 10 years of payroll experience, minimum 3 years each of Canadian. US Payroll an asset.
  • Experience using a variety of payroll systems, time and attendance, and HRIS systems (Ultimate Software experience is advantageous).
  • Advanced Excel skills (vlookup, pivot tables, sumif’s, etc).
