Job Description : Under the responsibility of the Enfance Famille Program Manager, the Health and Social Services Assistant, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, intervenes in the home with families or individuals.

The auxiliary aims to maintain or develop optimal functioning in the face of problematic situations, including mental health issues.

  • Participates in the identification of the user's needs;
  • Participates in case discussions and reassessments;
  • Promotes good lifestyle habits with respect to hygiene and balanced meals;
  • Provides hygiene care in support of some parents;
  • Performs domestic tasks with parents in order to help them acquire habits, maintenance methods, meal planning and execution, and organization of domestic life;
  • Assists the client in managing their budget and suggests solutions when necessary;
  • Performs family tasks and light housework as needed;
  • Promotes the client's development of parenting skills;
  • Participates in the resolution of any crisis situation that may arise in the family;
  • Provides temporary assistance in the care and education of children;
  • Custody of children to allow parents to participate in support groups, therapy or respite;
  • Informs the client of resources that can help the family overcome social isolation;
  • Contributes to the protection and development of the child's physical and mental health
  • Ensures the safety of the premises and suggests technical aids, if necessary;
  • Accompanies clients to medical appointments or on trips for socialization or rehabilitation purposes
  • Refers clients to community groups or other facilities that can assist with problem solving;
  • Promotes the participation of the natural environment;
  • Supports clients by actively listening and focusing on the positive;
  • Observes and communicates observations of clients' lifestyles, behaviours and attitudes to the primary caregiver;
  • Observes and communicates observations of clients' lifestyle habits, behaviours and attitudes to the primary caregiver;
  • Adheres to the code of ethics, confidentiality and record keeping of his / her profession and the facility;
  • Provides information for the production of statistics;
  • Ensures the supervision of trainees;
  • Applies the 2008-2018 perinatal policy;
  • In collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, participates in the development and evaluation of intervention plans;
  • Performs any other related duties as requested by his / her immediate supervisor. Requirements : JOB REQUIREMENTS :
  • Hold a professional degree (DEP) in health care OR equivalent certification / experience recognized by the Department of Immigration and Diversity in the following areas :
  • Assistance to the person at home
  • Assistance to the person in a health care institution and at home
  • Have a current PDSB card
  • Completion of Loi 90 (Medication Administration) training
  • Have a current CPR card
  • Bilingual : English and French
