Job Description

Reporting to the client leader / manager and based at a client site in Nanticoke, the successful candidate will be responsible for field verification of existing I&E drawings and P&IDs and he / she is supposed to prepare redline drawings.

The candidate is also responsible to prioritize the As Built work. The successful candidate is responsible to complete some of the As-

built drawings at site and utilize possible resources channeled through the Sarnia office as necessary. The candidate has to coordinate the work with Document controls and other stakeholders at site.

Job function will basically support for the drafting work at site within Document Control during peak periods of work.

The successful candidate shall have a multi-discipline technical background and able to demonstrate general AutoCAD software skills.

The successful candidate shall have excellent communication skills, be detailed-oriented, a self starter, organized, be able to work independently to produce drawing results on a strict schedule.


  • Update Instrumentation and Electrical As-Built drawings that come back to Document Control after projects are completed in the field
  • Instrument and Electrical drawings may include loop drawings, wiring drawings, schematics, single line drawings, installation details, equipment arrangements, and P&IDs to name a few
  • To update P&ID’s, Single-Line Electrical Drawings and Hazardous Area Classification drawings which do not fall under updates for trades.
  • These are Control Documents, it is important the candidate understand this. There is a certain sensitivity in handling these files and the timeliness of updates

  • Complete Various HAZOP Updates to P&IDs as per Technical and Process Team changes
  • Candidate should be focused on I & E discipline only, but should be able to interface with piping because traditionally, piping is responsible for P&ID content.
  • The I & E support is required with field verification and representation on P&ID’s

  • Process updates to P&IDs by Process / Operations to show all SCDs (Total 6000) to be added to drawings
  • Save drawings as *.pdf files and send to Document Control along with the latest CAD revision to be checked by project stakeholders(i.e. PME)
  • Once approval has been received, notify site document control of update completions and make available for storage on LAN save the latest drawing revision to the LAN
  • Assist Document Control during periods of peak workload
  • Be able to easily identify and trace field installations
  • Requirements

  • College diploma in Instrumentation or Electrical technician or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years relevant drafting experience in an engineering environment
  • To be familiar with general industry safety rules and regulations and be able to work at refinery
  • Site experience is a plus; refinery experience is a bonus
  • Advanced AutoCAD skills including Microstation experience, and experience with Micro CADAM and application systems
  • Able to work within defined schedules and deadlines
  • Able to function well, either as part of a team or independently
  • Strong communication, analytical and time management skills
