IITB is a national organization, with a wide variety of work that can be performed regardless of geographic location. However, certain positions may require a physical presence at a specific location.

Work environment

Within the Innovative, Information Technology Branch (IITB) of Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), the Planning and Governance team assists in the planning of the Branch’s strategic direction, measures the Branch’s performance and matures the Branch’s information management practices.

Employee’s tasks may include, but are not limited to :

  • Writing briefing material
  • Ensuring compliance to IMIT policy
  • Reporting IMIT performance
  • Collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Providing support and assistance to branch oversight and governance functions.

  • An acceptable combination of education, training and / or experience.

    Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.

    ASSET EXPERIENCE (All Streams) :

    EX1. Recent* experience supporting the provision of business services in one or more of the following areas :

  • Business Planning;
  • Information Management;
  • Audit;
  • Policy Compliance;
  • Governance.
  • EX2 : Recent* experience implementing processes, procedures, guidelines and / or service standards;
  • EX3 : Recent* experience in graphic design.

  • Recent experience is defined as normally obtained within the last three (3) years.

    EX4 : Recent* and Significant experience in compiling data AND analyzing information.

    EX5 : Experience in writing briefing materials, summary notes or reports for Management .

  • Recent experience is defined as normally obtained within the last three (3) years.
  • Significant experience is defined as experience that would normally be associated with performing these duties for six (6) consecutive months.

    Management is defined as Manager or above.

    Once a qualified candidate has been selected and appointed on an indeterminate basis from the established pool, they will be removed from the pool.

    If a candidate is selected for a term or acting appointment, they will remain in the pool for future offers.

    Please be aware that as part of personnel security screening requirements (condition of employment), if selected for appointment and if you have lived outside of Canada during the past five years, you will be requested to provide proof of all residence(s) outside of Canada when completing the Personnel Security Consent and Authorization form (some examples of documentation that may be used as proof of residence include, but are not limited to, university transcript, hydro bill, visa / passport stamp, a letter of good conduct from an embassy).

    Candidates will be contacted by email and it is imperative that you provide a current email address that accepts e-mail from unknown users (some email systems block these types of email).

    Acknowledgment of receipt of applications will not be sent; we will contact candidates when the screening process is completed.

    A written exam, an interview and reference checks will be part of the assessment process.

    All information obtained throughout the selection process, from the time of application to close of process, may / will be used to evaluate the candidates.

    Candidates will be required to provide proof of education at a later stage of the selection process.

    If you were educated outside of Canada, you must have your credentials and / or diploma assessed against Canadian education standards.

    The public service will accept any Foreign Educational Credentials as long as they are deemed comparable to Canadian standards, through a recognized credential assessment service.

    Screening of applications / selection of candidates may be based on asset qualifications, operational requirements, or the organizational needs, depending on the requirements of the specific position being staffed.

    A pass mark will be established for each essential qualification. Candidates must meet each essential qualification to be appointed to the position.

    A candidate may be appointed to the position even though he / she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications, organizational requirements, or operational needs.

    However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be used as a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.

    If necessary to help with volume management, top-down ranking can be used at any stage of the assessment process where only the top scoring candidates will be invited to the next stage of the assessment.

    Please note that different pass marks and cut-off scores can be used at various stages of the assessment process. Candidates who attain the pass mark might not be further considered in the process if they do not achieve the cut-off score.

    The breadth and depth of experience may / will be considered when making selections from the qualified pool and in determining the right fit for positions.

    Please note that within the context of this selection process, travel costs or travel expenses will not be reimbursed for the staffing of an acting, assignment or secondment.
