Position Summary :

The Payroll Assistant is critical position on our Corporate Finance team. In this position, you will bring your valuable payroll and accounting experience to the corporate finance function.

Experience :

  • 2-3 years’ experience in processing payroll in a mid-sized organization.
  • Familiarity with payroll software such as ADP or Ceridian.
  • Experience in US payroll requirements a definite asset.
  • Education :

  • Degree or diploma in accounting
  • Willingness to pursue Canadian and US payroll certifications
  • Required Skills :

  • Exceptional knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding organizational and follow-thru skills
  • Fast learner, detail oriented, efficient working style and ability to work independently
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, under pressure and very tight deadlines
  • Excellent analytical, thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent prioritization and time management skills
  • Primary Duties :

  • Weekly time sheet review / verifying of hourly employees and consulting with employees and managers on any discrepancies
  • Submitting payroll in a timely manner each week
  • Prepare and post payroll journals to general ledger
  • Update payroll records for any changes, hires, terminations
  • File / submit payroll returns and remittances such as payroll taxes, RRSP, 401K, garnishments, WSIB, EHT, etc
  • Assist in the T4 and W2 preparation process
  • Benefits analysis, allocations and posting to general ledger
