Position Summary :

Our client, a Financial Institution with presence across Canada and Asia, is looking for a strong Project / Program Manager with expertise in streamlining divergent project delivery standards and methodologies across multiple teams.

The portfolio of projects is focused on Application Development, the various teams are across Canada, India and Asia, and the Project delivery methodologies are in need of streamlining.

This is very much a hybrid role between Project Management and Program Management .

This is an initiative mandated by the Executives business side; consequently, the successful candidate will need to be highly versed and adept at dealing with high level Business Partners and executives

We are looking for a strong Program Manager who specializes in evaluating existing projects / programs , looking at the various processes, procedures, methodologies within the PMO environment.

The required Program Manager will evaluate and understand the methodologies around a project and the processes involved of an overall program to make it successful.

The Program Manager will provide strategic value by building and harmonizing the project delivery process so that there is a level of understanding to assist initiatives to be as successful as possible (large scale initiatives) .

The Program / Project Manager must have a complete understanding of project management / lifecycle and must be able to speak to that world .

The scope of the process improvement will be across all business and IT streams. Specifically, the Program / Project Manager will :

  • Create a high level framework of Project Delivery
  • Review and assess the Project leaders’ capabilities to lead this type of project
  • Provide insight into how a PM manages projects (Coaching and Mentoring if need be)
  • Finalize concepts of project delivery and translate them into actual processes for execution by PMs
  • Work across multiple standards, from Waterfall, to CMMI and PMBOK.
  • Write processes / documentation which will outline detailed procedures for what will and won’t work.
  • Qualifications : Required Skills :

    Required Skills :

    PMP certification. Must be a Functional PM with experience working on projects with Business objectives. Technical experience is an asset.

    7 years’ experience with Process Project Management Evaluation and Improvement and prior experience in a full range of projects.

    The role will require dealing with off-shore teams - MUST have prior experience in this area working with Business Partners in Asia / India & US.

    Some work required outside of office hours to connect with offshore business partners

    Main work location is Waterloo. Some Travel to Toronto is required as well.

    Insurance experience an asset

    CMMI very desirable asset

    Compensation : up to 90 / hr
