Job Overview :

This role will require you to assess structural problems and perform numerical analyses for internal / external clients under the supervision of senior engineers / project managers.

You will also assist the software team with the development of analysis software (interface, preprocessing, solver, and post processing).

Engage with clients to discuss structural problems, solutions, and results. Provide support for the development, maintenance, troubleshooting and verification of analysis software systems.

About this role :

Work within agreed budget constraints and contractual requirements. Manage tasks within projects and team members keeping within the negotiated deliverables and schedule.

Assist senior personnel in determination of the time / value of the work to be undertaken for clients within an agreed fee / cost structure and within the commercial aspects of the contract.

Assist in generating new business through engagement with new and current clients. Interact with clients during project performance and reporting.

Experience in a number of the following ATG’s service offerings / domains :

  • Structural analysis of naval / commercial / passenger / icebreaking ships, and offshore structures
  • Finite element analyses (linear, nonlinear, dynamics, shock)
  • Strength, fatigue and fracture analyses
  • Naval architecture, Naval and Class Rules
  • Numerical modelling methods / techniques
  • Structural monitoring / instrumentation
  • Scientific software development / programming experience (C#, C++, LabVIEW and / or FORTRAN) is desirable and significant weight will be given to candidates with programming knowledge / experience.

    You will have :

  • Must be eligible to apply for a Canadian Security Clearance to level SECRET within the first week of hire. Continued employment in this role is contingent upon receiving and maintaining such clearance.
  • Proficiency in speaking and writing English
  • 5 years of combined experience in engineering analysis and field services
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or higher in naval architecture, civil, mechanical or electrical / computer engineering
  • Eligible for registration with Engineers Nova Scotia (EIT or P.Eng)
  • Must be able to successfully complete all required Lloyd’s Register training courses
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must have the ability to travel nationally and internationally
  • Above average technical writing skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
