The Quebec Federation of Municipalities (FQM), whose head office is located in Quebec City, is responsible for defending the autonomy and powers of municipalities as well as the development of regions.

The FQM has nearly 1,000 local and regional county municipalities members and relies on a force of 7,000 elected officials.

In order to meet the needs of its members, the Federation of Quebec Municipalities (FQM), whose engineering department is expanding , is looking for a proactive and results-oriented civil engineering technician to fill a permanent position in our "Engineering and infrastructure" department.

DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION

In accordance with the mission and values of the FQM and in order to support and ensure an advisory service to local and regional municipalities in matters of contract management and engineering, the civil engineering technician, under the authority of the coordinator of the engineering and infrastructure service, has as main mandate to participate actively in the various design, preparation projects plans and specifications, construction, inspection, repair and improvement of municipal infrastructure.

It contributes, through the quality of its work and its re relationships with the various stakeholders, to support and improve the FQM's service to its member municipalities.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Offer technical support to local and regional municipalities in matters of engineering and municipal infrastructure;
  • Offer a second opinion, ie a review of studies, estimates, reports, plans and specifications, quotes, products, other technical documents, etc .;
  • Carry out the preparation of plans and specifications, sketches, estimates and tender documents for construction work (roads, aqueduct, sewers, culverts, etc.);
  • Design municipal infrastructure (aqueduct, sewers, roads, etc.) and perform all the calculations and other tasks necessary for design;
  • Carry out work supervision, carry out topographical surveys and measurements, directly supervise construction works, depart be involved in the preparation of work accounts and the production of reports;
  • Carry out inspections of road, municipal and culvert infrastructures on municipal networks;
  • Participate in the identification of the condition of the assets and determining the infrastructure needs;
  • Prepare and update intervention plans;
  • Carry out drawings, standard cuts , plans and design in AutoCAD Civil 3D software;
  • Support the service in the preparation and revision of tender documents and subsequent contracts, in particular for obtaining professional and construction services;
  • Prepare requests for authorization under sections 22 and 32 of the Environment Quality Act;
  • Perform any other task related to the request of his superior.

  • REQUIREMENTS

  • Hold a college diploma in civil engineering technology or construction engineering;
  • Have relevant experience related to civil engineering or any other similar function;
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD software;
  • Knowledge of the Office suite and MS Project;
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D software;
  • Experience in site supervision and quality control ;
  • Site safety training (ASP construction);
  • Being familiar with geodetic measuring devices (GPS, total station, level), an asset;
  • Know the regulations and standards in the field of municipal infrastructure;
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a car;
  • Be available to travel to outside the workplace;
  • Be flexible for work schedules.
  • Any combination of training and professional experience and any other experience deemed relevant will be considered. .
  • WORKING CONDITIONS

    The workplace : We are recruiting for our offices in Quebec, Matane, Nicolet, Saint-Luc-de-Vincennes and Trois-Pistoles

    Status : Permanent full time.
