Contributes to the overall success of the Enterprise Risk Audit Team in Canada and globally ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.
Ensures all activities conducted follow governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
The Audit Manager will be an individual contributor focusing on culture and conduct audits. The successful candidate will lead and participate on audit projects, continuous monitoring and the Audit Department’s focus priorities.
Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Plan, execute and report on internal audits covering business lines, corporate and control functions. Ensures scope of work is appropriate, timing and budgets are reasonable, procedures are efficient, necessary resources are assigned and risks are understood, classified and effectively covered.
Ensures audits follow audit methodology, IIA and Department standards.
Clearly articulates audit issues to identify, document and report internal control weaknesses and root causes. Ensures issues are understood by senior management and that appropriate action plans have been developed with measurable and achievable timelines.
Prepares audit reports.
Supports the Director with annual planning, risk assessments, and developing and augmenting the strategy for culture and conduct audits for diverse units and geographies.
Supports the Director with regular reporting, analyzing systemic issues and themes, and developing best practices in audit execution.
Supports knowledge-building for emerging areas relating to culture and conduct risk.
Effectively communicates with Audit Department colleagues, auditees and senior management, including handling conflicts and resolving issues.
Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his / her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML / ATF / sanctions and conduct risk.

Education / Experience
Essential education and experience :
Audit experience with a professional services firm or internal audit, preferably within the financial industry.
Post-secondary degree and / or relevant designations, degrees (e.g. CPA, CA, CIA, CFA, MBA)
Internationally recognized audit methodologies
Ability to problem-solve and execute multiple projects at any given time.
Ability to comfortably present and interview senior executives
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Highly proficient with standard business software (e.g. Microsoft Office)
Asset knowledge and skills :
Ability to lead and facilitate focus groups
Interpersonal skills to work with staff and management at various levels.
Data analysis with modern business tools (e.g. advanced Excel techniques, Tableau, PowerBI)
Regulatory experience with global regulators (OSFI, FCA, PRA, MAS, etc.).
Experience with audit tools (e.g. TeamMate)
Spanish language fluency (verbal and written)
