Team &Job Overview

EDC’s WorkingCapital Solutions Group provides financing solutions in support of Canadianexports and foreign investments to :

  • Canadianexporters and their foreign customers;
  • Canadianinvestors and their foreign affiliates; and

    Financialinstitutions.

    WithinWorking Capital Solutions, the International Financing Guarantees team islooking for enthusiastic finance professionals who works well in a team environment,and enjoys interacting with colleagues, banks and clients on a regular basis.

    Withthe customer’s need always in view and in close collaboration with EDC’sBusiness Development, Legal Services, Corporate Responsibility Group plus ourexternal banking partners both domestically and internationally, the successfulcandidatewill be relied upon tounderstand the customer’s needs, underwrite financing loan guarantees whichaddresses those needs, assess the credit risk and recommend risk mitigationstrategies as appropriate to achieve the optimal balance betweencustomer-centricity andEDC’s businessrequirements.

    DisciplineSummary

  • Works incollaboration with business customers, foreign buyers, financial institutionsand other organizations to secure financing;
  • Structuresand delivers financing solutions (defined broadly to include guaranteestructures) that support the specific product and service needs of customersranging from small to mid-sized enterprises;
  • Analyzes theneeds of customers and transaction delivery processes to suggest the bestfinancial tool to meet the need;
  • Assesses therisk of proposed solutions and establishes appropriate transaction pricing;
  • Assists thebusiness development teams with on-going customer service throughout thetransaction process;
  • Negotiateschanges to the terms and structure of existing transactions and recommendsthese by assessing the risk of proposed solutions and establishing appropriatetransaction pricing;
  • Conductsregular risk analysis and credit reviews of loan guarantees.

    Associate :

  • Withoversight, works as part of a team on financing transactions and contributes tothe management of a proportionate share of transactions;
  • Learns aboutfinancing issues and general lending / underwriting practices;
  • Worksclosely with other team members and Legal Services to draft and / or reviewdocuments;
  • Conducts duediligence and necessary analysis to establish the creditworthiness of theborrower or relevant counter party;
  • Prepares transactionand credit material, and presents transactions to appropriate DoA Supportsaccount management function in managing customer expectations at various stagesof the process;
  • Ensuresdiscipline around data integrity;
  • Identifiesopportunities for improvement, solves problems, participates in ongoingbrainstorming and CI alignment meetings.

    Contributes to ad hoc projects relatedto process and other improvements.

    SeniorAssociate :

  • Appliesknowledge of financing issues and general lending / underwriting practices tomanage proportionate share of transactions / customer portfolio;
  • Assesses / mitigates transaction risks on basic transactions and portfolios;
  • Understandsfinancing issues, financial markets terminology and general lending / underwritingpractices and, with moderate supervision, applies this knowledge to the riskunderwriting and mitigation process;
  • Preparestransaction and credit material, and presents transactions to appropriate DoA;
  • Contributesto the negotiation strategy and understands the negotiating position of thecounter parties;
  • Workingclosely with Legal Services, drafts and / or reviews documents to deliverproducts for transactions;
  • Supportsaccount management function in managing customer expectations at various stagesof the process;
  • Identifiesopportunities for improvement, solves problems, participates in ongoingbrainstorming and CI alignment meetings.

    Contributes to ad hoc projects relatedto process and other improvements.

    ScreeningCriteria

  • Completed anUndergraduate Degree in Accounting or Business Administration, Finance or relatedfield
  • 0 to 2 yearof experience in financial services (Associate) or 2 years and more ofexperience in financial services (Senior Associate)
  • Knowledge ofstructuring / restructuring in commercial lending and / or loan portfoliomanagement
  • Assets

  • Bilingual inboth official languages (French and English)
  • Professionaldesignation (CFA or CPA)
  • Financialanalysis, credit and modeling skills
